Dabbling in the Dark Arts

Okay, so I’m starting to get the hang of this theme day stuff. I’m using mine for quick posts that are meant to bring a little extra entertainment your way.
Mondays are for movies, but I can’t think of any better day for fun than Fridays! Hence, a Friday Fun theme day comes to my blog!
For the inaugural Friday Fun post I’m going to dabble in the dark arts.
First up: the photo at left. Part man? Part horse? Part ghost? All amazing! I stumbled upon it on morgueFile, loved it and wanted to share.
Second up: Sinister Visions. Chad Savage is the man behind this “dark visual design” mecca. I’d be surprised if you haven’t run across his work before. Perhaps you wouldn’t know it by name, but in addition to creating dark art (which he sells on Etsy, click here to see his store), he also designs websites, makes logos, and does all sorts of other spooky subject matter and dark graphic design work. (He’s designed quite a few, so it’s more than likely you’ve visited one of them!) Check out the main page to see some of his recent logo, site, and print designs. (I particularly liked what he did on the TheLabHaunt.com, and with The Crypt Haunted Attractions logo, and the Virginia Scaregrounds print. Brilliant stuff!) My dream is to have him design a Haunt Jaunts logo that I could use for the blog header. I’m saving up my pennies for that!
Last up: The Haunted Studio of Lew Lehrman. Commission “the Painter of the Dark” to use his paints and brushes to transform your house into a haunted keepsake. I don’t remember how I found out about him, but I was so impressed. He takes photos you send him and memories you share with him about your house (current or one from your past) to create a haunted house. His work is beautiful, haunting, and unique. This is another artist whose work I’m saving up my pennies for. I not only want to commission him for two paintings –the house I grew up in and the one I live in now–but I also LOVE these prints he sells: The Final Guest, Tilted Angel, The Homecoming, The Last Witness, Mistress of Melancholy…aw heck. That’s just the ones I’d snap up in an instant from page 1 of his gallery if I had the money. (He’s got 2 more gallery pages full of even more paintings I’d love to own!) However, he does offer a way for me to afford his work now: via his Haunted Notecards series.
