Several months ago Amy from Dwellable contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in writing a guest post for their blog. I was delighted to oblige!
She had suggested some kind of “Best of” list. Because I’ve been working on the Haunt Jaunts Guide to the Spookiest Places to Spend Halloween, a Best Cities to Spend Halloween post sort of wrote itself.
Below are the top 10. They’re not in order of importance. Rather, they’re in alphabetical order. (So nobody give me a hard time that their city should be higher than another, capiche?)
- Alexandria, VA
- Anoka, MN
- Boston, MA
- Chicago, IL
- Hudson Valley, NY
- New Orleans, LA
- Orlando, FL
- Philadelphia, PA
- Salem, MA
- San Diego, CA
If you want to see why I selected those as the best, you’ll have to read the post on Dwellable. (Hey, I didn’t do all that hard work just to redo it here!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
