Have you ever wanted a Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, or maybe an alien to call your own? I have. Everytime I get Design Toscano‘s catalog, I see beasties I’d love to have for my home and yard.
I thought it’d be fun to do a post showcasing all the neat creatures they make –and that I’d like to have. If the neighbors talk about me now, well…whoa! If I were to buy all the statues I wanted and displayed them outside? I’m sure the HOA would have a thing or two to say about it.
So for now I’ll just collect them here and let others who will appreciate them enjoy them too.
1. Harvest of Evil Garden Scarecrow Statue
I don’t know if I’d keep him out all year or not. Definitely come Fall he’d make an appearance, though!
2. The Zombie of Montclaire Moors Statue
Anyone who knows me knows I have a thing for zombies. So would like to have this fella. I know the perfect spot for him in my garden. But hub says, “No! Too creepy!”
3. The Raven’s Perch Zombie Statue
Again, there is a spot in my garden where this ghoulish zombie hand with the raven on top would look just right…
4. The Spirit of Nottingham Woods: Greenman Tree Sculpture
At our last house we had loads of trees I’d loved to have adorned with either this face statue or the next one down.
5. Poison Oak Greenman Tree Sculpture
6. The Dweller Below Garden Sculpture: Large
He’s both cool, cute and yet sort of creepy. The combo just makes me want him all the more!
7. The Creeper Wall Sculpture
Okay, so this is one I’d love to hang behind a door. Like in the powder room. Can you imagine the shock of seeing it when a guest closed the door and sat down to do their business? (Trouble is, I know I’d freak myself out every time instead.)
8. The Creeper Tabletop Sculpture
Conversation starter? I think so!
9. The Creeper Glass-Topped Sculptural Table
Good way to make that Creeper both functional and stylish.
10. Bones, the English Butler Pedestal Sculptural Table
OMG! How freaking funny is he?
11. The Skeleton Thinker Statue
What do you suppose he’s contemplating?
12. Bigfoot, the Garden Yeti Statue: Large
This one is super-impressive to me. I did a double take as I was flipping through the catalog. Imagine what people driving by your house might do? (I’d put him next to this one tree we have out front that faces the street. Make him look like he’s coming out of it and looking at the cars going by.)
13. Bigfoot, the Bashful Yeti Tree Sculpture: Under 11 inch Diameter Trees
Aw! He’s so cute. There’s a house down the road with a great forested lot where I think he’d be absolutely perfect! Wonder if they’d let me buy him for their yard to enjoy on my walks with Murph? (And to give the other neighbors something to talk about…)
14. Roswell, the Alien Butler
I hear his service is out of this world.
15. Roswell, the Alien Plaque
I’d hang him in our foyer. Right when we come in, he’d be there to greet us! (And freak out visitors. Have you noticed that theme throughout this post? I’m big into trying to shock people.)
16. Roswell, the Alien Sculpture
This friendly little guy would be welcome to crash-land in my yard. I got a mound of nice soft dirt that would be a perfect fit for him and his spaceship.
Which of the above were your favorites? Or, if you get Design Toscano’s catalog too, which of their other products do you like?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
#2 wins for sure. No, wait – #10! Oh hang on, #15!! Maybe you should show the list to your neighbours and ask how much it’s worth to them for you NOT to display these prizes??!! Have a great weekend!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh man, what a comment! As well as an idea. You might be on to something…I could turn this into a way to make some money via bribery. LOVE IT!
Hee hee I love their stuff …
What a innovative thinking. I like this article very much especially skeleton statue. Article is worth. Thank you for sharing this article.
Glad you found it interesting. Thanks for letting me know.
Our Halloween haunt club, CalHaunts, had a Make ‘n Take where we each made that hooded figure coming out of a wall (from plywood, chicken wire and monster mud). Mine wasn’t that great so after a few years I threw it away. My favorires are the faces on the trees. I would love to see a forest of those faces, just not at night LOL!
WOW! There is such a thing as a Halloween haunt club??? That is SOOOOO cool! And a Make ‘n Take event? THat sounds even cooler!!!! AND that you made something like that wall creeper…whoa. That sounds like fun. I like those tree faces too, but until your comment I never thought about how I’d feel seeing them at night…LOL!
