Non-Candy Halloween Treats
Wind-up toys, lights and LED rings are some of the non-candy Halloween treats you can find on Amazon to delight your food sensitive trick-or-treaters.

Even before I learned about the Teal Pumpkin Project, which aims to make Halloween more inclusive for kids with food allergies, I liked to hand out non-candy treats. Partly because I have friends whose kids can’t eat certain foods. I vowed never again to see the look of disappointment that I did one year when I didn’t have anything suitable to pop into a friend’s daughter’s bucket.

Plus, there’s a nostalgia aspect. Non-candy Halloween treats were few and far between when I was growing up. However, I remember those few Halloweens when I dumped out my candy bucket to discover some little nifty toy or trinket. The thought of someone else making such a discovery from one of my handouts thrills me.

Back in the old days, it used to be harder to find fun non-candy Halloween treats, but not anymore. Places like Oriental Trading and Amazon have all kinds of options. As the title suggests, this post highlights non-candy Halloween alternatives found on Amazon, all of which can be found in the Non-Candy Treats section of the Skareporium.

You’ll find a variety of items there, more than 30, but some are just different styles of the same kind of product. Like, I went a little nuts on adding different styles of Halloween finger lights. (There are six different styles of those and about four different styles of Halloween bracelets.) However, I’ve chosen my very favorite designs for each type of product to feature here.

1. Halloween Finger Lights

At first, I thought they were little flashlights, but they’re less like that and more like little projectors. The ones pictured above are black-and-white, but they also have colorized and neon options. And some are more cute and appropriate for younger children, while others have more of an “edge” to them for older kids. (But none are too frightening or graphic.)

They range in quantity (from 30 to 48 pieces) and price (anywhere from $12.99 to $25.99, depending on style and quantity.) The ones pictured above come in a 36-piece pack for $24.99 from Grastfu.

2. Halloween Zipper Bracelets

<yoastmark class=

Halloween Zipper Bracelets were among some WTF Amazon finds I made earlier this year. I immediately bought a pack for Smalls and me to hand out this Halloween. (Plus, I just had to try them for myself. A FOMO thing.)

The rubber charms are cute and surprisingly good quality, and the zippers work well. In addition to the 96-piece pack ($35.99), UpBrands offers two other pack sizes: 48 ($19.89) and 144 ($46.99). However, sometimes they also offer discounts so keep an eye out for a coupon box to check.

3. Halloween Glow Sticks

Making trick-or-treaters as visible as possible is always a Halloween safety concern, which is why I think these fun glow sticks appealed to me. I don’t know if these come with a string too, but these wands include a little cap to pop on the end to put a string through to create a hanging lanyard. That way kids don’t have to worry about carrying it and their bucket. Just pop it around their neck and they’re good to go.

The ones pictured above are from JOYIN and come in a 30-pack for $21.99.

4. Glow Critters

An even creepier variation on the glow sticks theme is these Glow Critters. You activate a mini glow stick (included) and insert it into one of the five types of critters. The 30-piece pack contains 10 critters (two of each design: rat, fly, spider, lizard, or beetle) and 20 mini glow sticks. It doesn’t say on the packaging but does in the description that it also contains 10 bonus necklace strings, for either hanging around your neck or as a decoration. Cost: $14.99.

5. Halloween Gliders

These foam Halloween airplanes are another fun non-candy Halloween treat from JOYIN. The 48-piece pack contains 12 different designs and costs $28.99. If my dad was still around, I’d buy them for him—both to hand out and to play with. He was nuts about airplanes and even built engines for remote-control-type planes. I’m positive he would’ve loved these.

6. Halloween Stamps

One more great non-candy Halloween option from JOYIN is these fun self-inking Halloween stamps. It includes two each of 25 different designs for a total of 50 stamps. Cost: $19.99

7. Mini Halloween Bubble Wands

“Bubble bubble toil and trouble,” emphasis on the “bubble” (not so much on the “trouble,” hopefully) with these cute little mini bubble wands. The pack consists of 80 pieces in four different colors. Cost: $19.99.

8. Pop Up Pumpkins

The first thing I thought when I saw these was, “Wheee!” Press ’em down and watch ’em pop back up. There are six different face designs in the pack of 24. Cost: $19.99.

9. Pumpkin Pop Fidget Keychains

I don’t know about you, but there’s something so satisfying about pushing buttons. Literally, not metaphorically. Although, there are those who enjoy that kind of button-pushing, too. To each their own.

My “own” is how much I love physically pushing pop buttons like on these keychains, which are made of silicone and come in six styles. They even have “to/from” cards with fun Halloween designs that you can attach to them. A 24-piece pack costs $15.99. The trouble is, I’d hoard these and not want to share.

10. Halloween Punch Balloons

Omg. Seeing these punch balloons brought back memories. I wish they’d had these kinds of fun designs when I was a kid!

I was sort of shocked to see them at all, and I wasn’t one bit surprised to see people balk at the “violent” nature of such a toy in the reviews. (But plenty of others also said how much their kids loved them.)

I understand the concerns about not promoting violent behavior, though. Most of us are striving to encourage a more peaceful society, but sometimes a good whack does a body good. Not whacking another body, mind you. That’s never good. I’m strictly talking about the release one gets from punching out their frustrations on something like a pillow—or one of these balloons. If more people did that, maybe the world would be a happier place.

I’m seriously considering indulging my inner child and buying a pack. The ones pictured above contain 36 pieces consisting of six different designs. Cost: $12.99. (I consider that a small price to pay to have something fun to vent my frustrations on.)

11. Halloween Mochi Squishies

Halloween Mochi Squishy Toys

Not that Halloween is stressful (or it shouldn’t be, at any rate), but if stress relief is needed and punch balls are too violent of an option, there are always squishy toys. These creepy cute designs come in a pack of 24 for $11.99.

12. Halloween Mini Fidget Spinner Balls

I was hoping these balls spun by pushing a button. (As I stated in the Pumpkin Pop Fidget Keychains, I really do love buttons!) Sadly, I think you hold them steady between your thumb and forefinger and then swipe with a finger on your other hand to spin them. Which is still fun and interactive. I simply would’ve liked a button better.

They’re a pretty good deal, really.  Each bag of 24 contains eight different images in eight different colors. Cost: $9.99.

13. Halloween Rubber Ducks

The first thing I thought of when I saw these Halloween ducks was what great cruise ducks they’d make! Or Jeep ducks, if that’s how you roll. Landlocked trick-or-treaters would probably also get a kick out of them, but I’m 100% positive anyone cruising with kids in the month of October who found these would go nuts for them. A 24-pack contains six different designs. Cost: $18.99.

14. Glow in the Dark Halloween Tattoos

Kids love temporary tattoos, and these are fun because not only are they seasonal but also “luminous.” Or fancy-speak for glow in the dark. You get 360 pieces (20 sheets of 18 different designs). Cost: $9.99.

15. Halloween Wind-Up Toys

Why, to this day, am I sucker for wind-up toys? {Insert Shrug Here} I have no idea, but this pack of 24 contains designs I’ve never seen before, including two types of skulls and a bloody hand. Does its fingers move? And please tell me the witch pumps her arm and broom up and down as she walks. I might have to break down and buy this to find out. Cost: $19.79.

16. Halloween LED Rings

Light up Halloween LED rings
Light Up Halloween LED Rings | Amazon/Coluans

Last but not least, in our lineup of non-candy Halloween treat alternatives, there are LED light rings. They come with little batteries that a flick of the switch turns on. The only downside is that the ones pictured above flash, for those who may be sensitive to that. But Amazon also sells light-up rings that are just static too. This variety pack consists of 50 pieces. Cost: $22.99

Have you ever handed out non-candy Halloween treats? If so, what’s something you like to give? If not, would you consider handing out any of the above?

  1. For many years now I’ve been giving kids something besides candy in their little baggies: Halloween pencils and erasers. That way, they have a useful souvenir of Halloween that also looks fun.

  2. I have given out something non-candy, but it was in addition to candy and not instead of it just in case a kid had his or her heart set on a sugar high. I’ve given out Halloween necklaces, spider rings, eyeball balls, stuff like that.

Oooo! You hand out baggies?! I’ve always wanted to do that but have been too lazy. lol Also, now that you mention pencils and erasers…I got a Halloween eraser as one of the non-candy treats in my bucket one year. I was thrilled! Some of my friends were sad and I traded candy (that I didn’t like) for their eraser. lol
