Well, hello, 2012. It’s very nice to meet you. Do you know the rumor circulating about you? That according to the Mayan calendar the world is supposed to end during you? On December 21st, specifically.
Many don’t buy into it. But many others do. Some have taken great pains to ensure their survival in case you do bring the end with you. They’ve built special structures to survive just about any kind of catastrophe and have stocked up on what they hope will be all the essential supplies.
I have a feeling it’s going to be like the Y2K hype. No planes will fall from the sky. No computers will melt down. No zombie apocalypse will ensue. Life will continue in the rhythms that it always has.
I’m actually pretty hopeful about you. But don’t be too flattered. I feel that way about all the years when they first begin.
However, I do get a little feeling in my gut that you are going to hold some pleasant surprises.
We shall see. For now, I’ll just say it’s nice to meet you and I look forward to getting better acquainted with you in the days, weeks and months ahead.
Cheers!

Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

HHHMMMmmm… In a Zen kind of way, will the world end if you DON’T subscribe to the Mayan belief structure?? Happy New Year!!!
