Good music is a Universal thing

I blame Katy Perry’s E.T. song for inspiring this post. I love it. Luckily so must a lot of others, because it comes on constantly. Whenever I’m in the car, which I’ve been a lot lately, I hear it. Perfect. I can groove along with it while I drive to wherever it is I’m going. (Lately, either tennis or volleyball. ‘Tis the season for me to constantly be playing one or the other.)

But the lyrics are so interesting it made me curious what the music video looked like, so I looked it up on YouTube. Some pretty sexy intergalactic stuff.

That reminded me of another sexy video I’ve always liked with a sort of paranormal vibe. Trouble was, for the life of me I could not remember the song’s title or the artist.

However, thanks to some awesome in the know people who follow HJ’s FB page, I got some leads to track down. Professional photographer Laura Pennace of Pennace Photography ended up being the one able to decipher my cryptic memory and led me to Evanescence’s “Call Me When You’re Sober.” Bingo!

Well, once I had that, it made me think of a few other paranormal music videos I’ve seen. I decided why not string them together in a post? If you want any of them for your MP3 players or what have you, following the video clips is a section with links to each song on iTunes.

THE VIDEOS

1. E.T. sung by Katy Perry (with Kanye West)

It took me a while to warm up to this song, mostly because it took me a while to stop and actually pay attention to the lyrics. Once I did, I was hooked!

2. Call Me When You’re Sober sung by Evanescence

Love the images in this video. Totally dig the whole werewolf/Little Red Riding Hood/gothic sexiness thing. Groovy! (And so glad Laura figured out what the heck I was talking about when I asked such a random question about the video I hadn’t seen in years but never forgot.)

3. She Wolf sung by Shakira

I think Shakira is incredibly sexy. This isn’t my favorite song of hers, but it was unforgettable because of the whole werewolf kind of spin.

4. Love Song for a Vampire sung by Annie Lennox

This one I sort of just stumbled upon as I was writing this post and decided to include it because I love Annie Lennox and thought it was neat she made a vampire song. How I didn’t know about it until now stumps me, but now I do so Life Is Good!

5. Ghostbusters Theme Song sung by Ray Parker Jr.

This has got to be one of the most played paranormal songs ever, but how could I not include it? The video really is fun. I remember how high-tech it seemed back in the day. Hadn’t seen it in years. Was fun to take a stroll down memory lane.

  1. Totally love Katy Perry’s E.T. song too, but I don’t like the version with Kanye West. I think it was just fine without him.

  2. That is so weird you say that, Andrea! I was disappointed when I found the video with him in it. I like the version with just her much better too!

  3. From what I hear they had to change the song because it sounded too similar to a t.A.T.u song. I guess they were afraid of some kind of backlash and added him to the track.

  4. WOW! Andrea, you never cease to amaze me. You have so much interesting knowledge about all kinds of things. If I was ever on Who Wants to be a Millionaire I’d for sure have you as my life line! I want to take you with us on cruises for when we play trivia too. We’d win for sure!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I like this music but it is not too good. Video are nice. Thank you for sharing this work.
