I thought I’d do something a bit different this year. I thought I’d put my powers of prognostication to the test and predict Punxsutawney Phil’s Groundhog Day declaration.

I’ve gazed into my crystal ball (actually, I’ve just been watching the daffies sprout about a month earlier than normal) and I’ve decided ol’ Phil will not see his shadow on Thursday February 2, 2012. We’re in for an early spring this year.

“According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.” From The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Groundhog Day FAQ page.

Do you agree with my prognostication or not? Either way, we’ll find out what Phil says and if I’m right come Thursday.

Of course, only time will tell what Spring’s really going to do…

  1. It feels like it already Spring here. I’m not sure what happened to winter, so I think you are right. It’ll be an early Spring.
