I got an email with some information about a trailer for a movie called Pleasantview State. I don’t think the movie has actually been made yet, though. I think they put this trailer together to try and sell the concept of the movie. (Not entirely sure about that. I could be wrong. That’s just the impression I got from the limited info available on the website.)
At any rate, among the writers/producers of the film is Richard Rothstein. (I believe he’s the main one.) I wondered why his name sounded familiar when I saw it in my inbox. Here’s his bio from the Pleasantview State site:
Richard Rothstein is a screenwriter, producer and director. He created the HBO TV series The Hitchhiker, also serving as writer, showrunner and director. Other writing credits include the original screenplay for the Universal Soldier and the NBC pilot for the Bates Motel which he also directed and executive produced.
Impressive credentials. And it also explains why I’ve heard his name before.
I have to admit, the trailer made me jump. It set up the expectation that something was going to happen, but I couldn’t figure out what. Then, finally, The Moment arrived and I twitched in my seat.
After that part, the trailer becomes a mismash of special effects to convey a taste of what the rest of the movie will be about. Some of the characters and so forth.
It looks intriguing. Sort of cheeky, but perhaps fun. It piqued my interest enough I felt compelled to share it here so…
We’ll have to see if a whole movie is released for us to enjoy.
For now, perhaps you’ll enjoy the trailer. I did.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
