The other day I got to thinking about who the most famous ghost might be. Maybe because of the time of year. I know it’s the time to celebrate Christ’s birth, however, I can’t think of him without thinking of his resurrection.
I was having some such notion when the thought popped in my head: “I wonder who’s the most famous ghost?”
What I was really wondering was, “What would would other people say? I’m not sure Jesus would be the first ghost to pop to my mind. Casper is when I think of something that goes with ghost.”
Did you ever watch Match Game from the 1970s? I used to catch it in re-runs on the Game Show Network. I was thinking of the part of the show where people have to pick a celebrity to play Super Match with them. They were given a word, such as “tomato” and then they had to decide what the number one word to go with tomato was. The celebrity they picked would give them their idea what it might be, like “juice.” Or they could choose their own, like “sauce.”
Anyway, Match Game went through my mind when this question popped into it and I decided to do a poll to see what others might say was their choice for the most famous ghost. I included a couple of choices, but the poll also allows you to write in your own.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I had to choose the Vanishing Hitchhiker because those stories are so common. It was a tough choice, though!
Wow. I never would’ve thought along those lines, but that is a super clever choice. I’m impressed Bast. Thanks for taking the poll! (And giving such a great answer!)
