In April of this year Haunt Jaunts celebrated its fourth anniversary. Unfortunately, since I was taking time off to deal with some new health and, consequently, emotional issues, I didn’t get a chance to celebrate like I normally would have.
Today I would like to take a moment to celebrate a little. Every year that I can celebrate is a big deal. As I’ve written about before, I started Haunt Jaunts when I was undergoing cancer treatments. It was my “get off the couch” recovery project.
That’s partly why I was emotionally struggling like I was when I took some time off to regroup earlier this year. I well remember how sick I was. I was not wanting to repeat that. It is thanks to modern medicine, prayers, and the love of a small but fierce group of friends and family that I began to recover when I did four years ago. I can tell you how bad off I was prior to that, but unless you had seen me then you wouldn’t understand. It’s just words.
But I know how close to Death I was. I know how important Haunt Jaunts was to me clinging to, and ultimately reclaiming, Life.
Along the way back to health, thanks to Haunt Jaunts, I’ve met some new friends. Ones I admire, cherish, love and respect as if I’d known them my whole life. As I celebrate four years of sharing my jaunts to haunted places, I’d like to also celebrate the people who’ve befriended me and aided me along the way.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Hey Courtney….I appreciate the acknowledgement. It’s great to have you back in the paranormal fold. Take care….Lon
