I am very excited to announce that Haunt Jaunts will soon be publishing a new series of very interesting, no doubt thought provoking, articles by director Steven Rumbelow.
Steven and I met on LinkedIn via The Paranormal Society, a group we both belong to. Every once in a while I share one of HJ’s Forum topics there, such as Do you think there are ghosts on Mt. Everest? and A ghost gene?.
Steven often comments and shares great insights or info based on information he’s gathered from putting together his series, “Beyond.”
BEYOND is a landmark series that presents experts from the field of academics and science who often confirm the phenomena being discussed. The series evolved from research conducted by 15 researchers at the University of Toronto for a special produced by Renegade in the 1990’s. Their task was to find proof of life beyond physical death. They returned more than 6 bankers boxes of evidence. Far too much to put into a 90-minute television special. This prompted writer/director Steven Rumbelow to conduct further research and to eventually come up with the whole series of BEYOND. A total of 52 episodes by 2007.
I’ve been meaning to write about Steven and his series for a while. He and I have often hinted around at featuring him here on Haunt Jaunts, either via an interview or through articles he writes. Well, we finally stopped hinting and decided to do something about it.
It was actually the “ghost gene” discussion I started on LinkedIn that cinched it. People thought I was absurd for asking if I thought there might be a ghost gene. I didn’t think it was so crazy. There are a lot of people who die –violently, unexpectedly or otherwise– who never come back as ghosts. Why? Why do some and not others? Could there be a gene involved that regulates the process?
Most people couldn’t believe I was seriously asking such a question. After all, everyone knows spirits have nothing to do with your physical body, right?
No. I do not know that for fact. Just like Christopher Columbus did not know for a fact the world was the flat mass others were convinced it was once upon a time.
Steven did not think I was so crazy. When I explained I was basing my question on a documentary I had started watching called DMT: The Spirit Molecule, he had, as usual, a “Beyond” show to refer me to. Or three in this case:
There is something to brain chemistry that is significantly influenced by the Pineal Gland. Melatonin. Sometimes referred to as the psychic chemical for a lot of reasons. It improves visibility in dark conditions among others… i.e significantly improves the range of visibility and people “see things” with elevated melatonin.
The Pineal Gland has been studied in some great studies related to earthquake prediction. When there is significant geophysical disturbances the EMF spikes stimulate the Pineal Glands which then in turn releases extra melatonin. This effects animals and humans alike. Dog’s and cats go kinda crazy and seem to be seeing things and about 75% of the 10,000 humans tested claimed to have seen visions and in many cases images of dead relatives… mostly grandparents.
My television series Beyond covered the extensive subject in three episodes. http://beyondtheseries.com
DMT I suspect stimulates and amplifies the same kind of effects as Melatonin. There’s another issue related to EMF which stimulates not only the Pineal Gland but in leading paranormal researchers like Dr. Barry Taft have made a correlation between EMF spikes from geological disturbances under house where major paranormal activity takes place.
There is also a theory in physics that suggests that the EMF component of light is what is responsible for what Einstein referred to as a “Spooky effect” related to strings, entanglement and instantaneous across distance effects… i.e. faster than the speed of light… of which it is a part.
There is a huge amount of research on DNA right now and what was originally referred to as Protites are light particles that are the building blocks of DNA and survive the body for millions of years… how they are able to generate life from flies suspended for millions of years in amber. I suspect light is key that is a level deeper than DNA.
Anyway, it’s all opinion until we know for sure.
Steven never fails to get me to think and generate interesting discussions. I’m very excited to be featuring some of his work here. I hope you’ll enjoy his contributions and give him a hearty a welcome.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
