I experienced this paranormal activity first hand when I moved into the house to investigate it after a friend determined he didn’t want to live there any more. This friend of mine had been conducting Nazi SS harmonics experiments in the house with an antique and valuable organ which he left there with no intention of ever having anything to do with it again.
The owner of the house was an old Chinese lady who had bought the house with her husband when she first moved to Canada. Her husband had died and she lived with her son who took care of her affairs. He would show up on the first day of each month for the rent but he would never set foot on the property. He would wait at the garden gate and call out. He once confessed to me that he hated the house and if it weren’t for his mother’s sentimental attachment to it he would “burn it to the ground”.
The house was situated in Toronto’s most fashionable artists quarter Queen Street West and bordered on China Town. In fact, there was a Tong Bank next to the house and a house converted to a Buddhist Temple on the opposite side of the street.
The following paranormal anomalies were recorded and witnessed by more than one witness at a time:
• Oppressive heaviness
• Darkness in the house which would start increasing at about 3pm.
• Live plants would not survive longer than 3 days in the house.
• Recurring appearance of pennies on the floors in the same places.
• Sticky brown gel appearing on the walls overnight
• Same brown goop appearing in the centre of the kitchen floor with a white powder covered by the goop.
• Smell of a dead body filling the house from the basement. The landlord had the basement excavated to find the dead carcass. An expert was brought in and they tried to find the cause of the smell for three months without success.
• Cat would puff up, hiss and display fight or flight conditions whilst trapped in the corner by an unseen entity,
• Hard touches on the back – every day at about 4pm.
• Distinctive pentagram patterns appearing almost like vaccination marks on upper arms over night.
• Physical attacks in bed at night – both sexes. These attacks involved both parties being hurled out of bed with sufficient force to be tossed several feet in the air.
• Bleeding bites (app. 3cm across) appearing on backs of calves over night that would not heal.
• Psychic who tried to exorcise the house was held down by the throat on the couch for three hours.
• Shadow creatures including a black ball (40cm diameter) with long leathery tendrils floating over the bed.
• Several sightings of a humanoid male creature with four arms and a serpentine body from the waist down. Muscular, brown skinned, floated above the floor. Witnessed by two people on one occasion and one visitor who saw it in the window one night and refused to ever come to the house again.
• Trial and error proved the source of the “attacks” to be ‘house-bound’.
• Attacks were always at their worst at 3 am. At which time we would often leave the house and go to all night restaurants, returning at daybreak. Even so attacks would sometimes resume in daylight.
• Sometimes, at 3 am, an Asian man would stand opposite the house and dance a chi-styled dance directed towards the house. Whenever I would come out to approach him he would run off.
We had the house investigated by two psychics, one academic and a Buddhist Lama.??The psychics were completely unsuccessful and the one that was held down for three hours fled the house when we ‘rescued’ him. He had sent us out for a night ‘off’ and told us, with much self-assurance, that the house would be free of the problems on his return. He refused to come back and explained to us that he had been taken by the throat and forced down onto the couch and held there for the three hours that we had been gone. Could hardly speak.
The academic suggested that the creature was a very old demon, pre Hebrew. He also pointed out that the copper coins were indicative of an Asian form of curse. He also suggested the creature may be a Jinn. He made some ancient symbols for us to place over the doors which made no difference.
The ‘goop’ was corrosive and would leave dark marks on the skin rather like jelly fish sting marks.??The physical attacks were very violent. I remember the first physical thump on my back was while I was editing one of the scenes of my current film at the time.
My cat was trapped in a corner by it and it was highly stressed. So I said loudly to my girlfriend “Big guy ..v makes it feel good to terrorize a cat”.
Almost immediately I received a forceful blow in between my shoulder blades. I repeated that often. In bed sometimes, it would kick us both out of bed at the same time.
Sometimes it would suddenly hold us down, one at a time and pummel, punch, strangle or bite us. Usually then we were making for the door at about 3 am.??We became dysfunctional and exhausted.
So, we called for a Buddhist Lama to perform an exorcism. We had to ask him three times. Then he came but he wouldn’t come on to the property. Like the landlord, he came and stood at the front gate. He told me we should move. He had performed house exorcisms up and down the Grange Avenue repeatedly over the years and the entity would just move from one house to another. He said that we were exhausted and that I had an infection in my blood from the bites. He feared something very bad would happen if we didn’t leave.
We decided we’d had enough and moved out.?? Evidently the same things carried on happening long after we’d moved. From the outside it still looks like the place carries its own darkness. I’d never go in there again. Just the memories of that fatigue is enough. I don’t even like driving past the place.
When I wrote an article about this on the British paranormal site P9, the next week there was this post in response to the article:
