Halloween may be over but Movie Monday must go on!
Check out this cool infographic from The New York Film Academy detailing The Top 10 Darkest Characters in Film.
Keep in mind this is top 10 “dark” characters in film, not necessarily scary and evil. Although, they also ooze with a fair amount of both.
What do you think? Do you agree?
I haven’t seen Monster, Lost Highway, Bad Lieutenant, or Audition so I don’t know much about their characters. I was sort of surprised Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men wasn’t on the list though.
What about you? Any dark characters you thought should’ve made the cut?
In case the print is too small on the infographic, here’s the cast of characters:
- Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs
- Aileen Wuornos from Monster
- Mystery Man from Lost Highway
- Zed from Pulp Fiction
- Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange
- Annie Wilkes from Misery
- The Lieutenant from Bad Lieutenant
- John Doe from Seven (1995)
- Jigsaw from Saw
- Asami Yamazaki from Audition
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
