I haven’t been watching much TV lately, but the other night I happened to be watching something on ABC and saw the ad for The Whispers.
It looked sort of freaky and I happened to notice a familiar face, Lily Rabe (of American Horror Story fame). Hmmmm… It was worth looking into more.
Apparently it’s based on short story by Ray Bradbury called “Zero Hour.” (Which can be found in his collection of short stories called The Illustrated Man.)
Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:
An unseen force is manipulating society’s most innocent-our children-to act in favor of its cause. As the kids unwittingly help this unknown enemy, the clock counts down in this suspenseful race to save humanity.
It piqued my interest. I’ll be tuning on on June 1 to check it out. (Or perhaps streaming on June 2 via Hulu.)
Either way, I’ll give the pilot a shot. I like that ABC takes chances putting on suspenseful/supernatural shows. For a while there I was enjoying all the adaptations of Stephen King books they did.
Maybe The Whispers will become a fun summer scare. What do you think? Do you plan on giving it a shot too?

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
