I forget how I stumbled across the trailer for Crimson Peak, but some description of it including the following words: haunted, Gothic, atmospheric, and Guillermo del Toro. That’s all it took to catch my eye. I of course clicked the link to watch.
Oh wow. Crimson Peak looks chilling. Like The Woman in Black meets The Shining.
Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
Crimson Peak is directed by Guillermo del Toro (he’s also one of the writers too, along with Matthew Robbins), and stars Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston.
The release date looks to be set for October 16, 2015. Just in time for Halloween season. Nice!
Here’s the trailer so you can have a peak at Crimson Peak for yourself.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
