Haunted Attractions Open for Friday the 13th 2016

Friday the 13th

There is only one Friday the 13th in 2016 and it happens this Friday, May 13. Here’s a list of haunted attractions that are open for your thrill-o’-tainment.

Brighton Asylum – Passaic, NJ

If you suffer from coulrophobia (fear of clowns), this haunted house is not for you. There will be clowns a’plenty, and some wielding chainsaws. Which, in my mind, makes for about one of the most frightful combinations ever.

This is a “contact” haunted house. If you don’t want to be touched, invest in one of their “protection balloons.” Apparently these magical balloons keep clowns off of you, just not necessarily away from you.

Their Panic Room (an Escape Game, essentially) will also be open. But reservations must be made in advanced.

Speaking of advanced, they advise booking tickets in general in advance because Brighton Asylum is popular and often sells out.

Theme: Clown Asylum

Hours: 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Cost: $25 General Admission; $45 Fast Pass; $45 Killer Deal; $5 Panic Room (with GA ticket purchase; reservations made in advanced)

Creepy Hollow Haunted House – Rosharon, TX

Creepy Hollow won’t just be open on Friday the 13th, but also on Saturday May 14th, for a 2016 season Sneak Peek Weekend. They’re doing a blackout theme, which means you get a glow stick and good luck navigating your way in the dark.

Theme: Blackout Weekend

Hours: Dark – 11:45 p.m.

Cost: $30 (an extra $10 will nab you a Speed Pass so you can zoom to the front of the line with no waiting)

Dark Hour Haunted House – Plano, TX

Dark Hour will also be open both Friday the 13th and Saturday May 14th. They’re also supporting a good cause by donating $2 of every ticket sold to Kidds’ Kids, a charity that sponsors annual trips to Disney World for seriously ill children between the ages of five to twelve.

They’re also going to have Night Gallery, a Dark Art Gallery Exhibition.

Theme: Walpurgisnacht Halfway to Halloween (looks to have a heavy witch influence)

Hours: 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Cost: $26 General Admission, $45 Fast Pass Admission, $35 Backstage Tour, $65 VIP Experience (Discounts available by purchasing online)

Factory of Terror – Canton, OH

There are five attractions at the Factory of Terror and all five will be live on May 13. They’ll also have a giant commemorative guest banner for all to sign with your name and where you’re from.

Oh and if you happen to be celebrating a May 13 birthday? Your admission is free!

Theme: Not really a theme but they’ll be doing an “October Style” show

Moxley Manor Haunted House – Bedford, TX

There isn’t a lot of details on what to expect, other than some frightening fun in their haunted house that they’ll be opening for Friday the 13th.

Phobius – Wright City, MO

To “honor” (terrify?) the millions of people who suffer from Paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th), Phobius has doubled down on the terror. You’ll be set loose in their haunted house with only one glow stick to guide you.

So if you suffer from Nyctophobia (fear of dark or night), Lygophobia (fear of a dark place), or Achluophobia, Myctophobia, or Scotophobia (fear of darkness), and/or fear of Friday the 13th? You’re screwed…and either insane, a masochist, or both if you’d seriously consider experiencing this.

Theme: Crimson Shadows: A Blackout Experience  – “One night. One light. Will you survive the dark?”

Hours: 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Cost: $25 General Admission; $35 Fear Pass; $45 Killer Deal
