What’s in them there skies?

Yesterday I wrote about Week in Weird’s Tin Foil Hat Challenge. What a hoot! I had a lot of fun fashioning a tin foil hat for both myself and Skellie.

Oh who am I kidding? The challenge gave me a great excuse to goof off. Some people play with dolls. I have a skeleton. Any chance I get to dress it up or pose with it? On it!

But there’s something else I like to play with: my phone.

Specifically a great new-to-me app I found called FXGuru. This app is just too cool.

Here are a few of the categories you can choose from:

  • Horror
  • Holiday
  • Weapons
  • Ultimate Fan
  • People
  • Sci-Fi
  • Animals
  • Disasters
  • Vehicles

Each category has from six to 30+ scenes.

Of course the Horror is probably my favorite. Ghosts, zombies, werewolves…even a Bigfoot scene! What’s not to love?

I’ve been having big fun experimenting with some of the different effects in different settings. (I submit into evidence Exhibit A: The Haunted Cooler and Exhibit B: Pool Demon.)

The Tin Foil Hat Challenge inspired me to use one of the Sci-Fi UFO scenes to create a mini video.

I picked a couple of Skellie and I’s tin foil hat shots, used another new-to-me app I’m digging, Videorama, selected the FXGuru UFO Arrival scene and in about 10 minutes I had pieced together the Tin Foil Hat Invasion.

On the Tin Foil Hat Challenge post, Greg Newkirk included a disclaimer: “Just a fair warning – tin foil helmets actually increase the signal…”

No joke. Here’s proof positive:
