I created the #MyHJHaunt contest with selfish intentions initially. I LOVE Halloween decorations and seeing all the creative ways people spook up their houses. That’s what I was after.

However, I wasn’t expecting how hard picking a winner would be.

Holy cow there were some GREAT entries. I’ve put off making a decision all day because I’ve been tormented who to pick.

That and I hate making decisions. What was I thinking when I created this contest? Clearly I wasn’t. Or I just like torturing myself. Because that’s what deciding has been…TORTURE!

I was torn between three:

  1. Weston Fox Hamilton’s Hamilton Halloween Treat – SO much going on. Fantastic use of the walkway, the lawn, the trees
  2. Nikki Seals’ “Carn-Evil” – Oh that name! SO scary! Tons of creepy stuff. Winner of scariest for sure!
  3. Theresa Ramsey’s Marysville Reaper haunt – Lights, a HUGE reaper, skeletons…wow!

Hard as it was, I forced myself to narrow it down to two:  Weston Fox Hamilton’s Hamilton Halloween Treat and Theresa Ramsey’s Marysville Reaper haunt.

But I have to pick a winner so…

Congrats to Theresa Ramsey and her Marysville Reaper haunt!

Ultimately it was the life-sized skeleton horse on Theresa’s that titled it in her favor.

I’d seen those at Home Depot and had been fascinated with them. (Would’ve had one for my own haunt if I’d found one!)

So…I wish I had more than “Thank You!” to give to Weston, Nikki and the others who entered their decorations, but I only had one prize for this one.

But I really do thank you for entering and your enthusiasm and most of all treating me to seeing your Halloween spooktacularness!

Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
