No, I’m not referring to the Michael Jackson movie. I’m referring to the housekeeping I’ve been doing lately. Namely, trying to find a new post-Halloween skin (or “theme” as they’re technically referred to) that I liked.
I loved, loved, LOVED the graphics I had for the Halloween skin. Spooky and mysterious and as I think Autmnforest noted, Legend of Sleepy Hollow-ish.
So why not keep it? Because, sort of like fine china, some skins are reserved for special occasions. It wasn’t an everyday skin. It was a special occasion one.
I searched (and found) some more blog themes with awesome graphics, but as I explained in a previous post, there was just always enough wrong with them that I couldn’t settle.
Then I thought I had one that would work, but…it too let me down. (Quirk with the header frustrated me enough I couldn’t settle for it either.)
However, I finally found one with three-columns that I like that seems to meet the rest of my criteria. Pretty much. I like the feel and the colors. It kind of reminds me of Old World meets Wild West meets Steampunk meets Hotel Lobby…why it reminds me of all those things who knows, but it does. Ad that feels right. Finally!
So, with this under my belt I think I can finally rest easy and get back to blogging about Haunt Jaunts! (Like I remarked to Patty in response to one of her comments –and perhaps to Autumnforest too– I was having a hard time concentrating on writing when the aesthetics of how it would all look published weren’t jiving. It’s just how I am. Everything has to be in its place and copesthetic or I can’t function. Hey, I know you other artist-types out there get this!)
Thanks so much for bearing with me during my “dressing room try on” phase.
Now I’m going to have to go play with creating a new logo to include with my emails and to use as my Twitter background…
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I love that! My favorite activity is dressing room posing with gal pals. I think the only thing that would make this more wicked and absolutely amazing (I adore the colors and layout) would be if you could do a train at nighttime coming down a track towards us at the top. That would be a wicked Haunt Jaunts symbol. 🙂
Oh Autumnforest! THANK YOU! I am going to use your description when I finally get enough money to hire someone to create a proper logo. That would be a PERFECT logo. I’m glad you’re so hip and in-tune. This really helped me!
And hahaha about the dressing room posing…I can just picture you doing that!
