I’m not a Southerner, but I’ve lived in the Southern United States since 1999 now so every once in a while a “Y’all” pops out. Like now.
Y’all, I’m so excited to welcome a new member to the Skeleton Crew: The Haunted Librarian.
A Fan
I am a HUGE fan of her blog. HUGE! (Nope. I can’t emphasize that enough.)
Once I figured out how to subscribe to blogs in WordPress, hers was the first I subscribed to.
I became aware of The Haunted Librarian when we were both named to Feedspot’s Top 50 Paranormal Blogs and Websites in 2017.
I checked out everybody on the list that I didn’t already know of and hers was a site I ended up spending a lot of time on. (There was a lot of catching up to do once I became acquainted with her.)
That’s when I was compelled to figure out how to subscribe to blogs so that I knew when she posted new ones.
Good Stuff
She’s a wealth of info.
For instance, it was her “The Best Christmas Gifts Evoke the Horror of Christmas’ Past” post where I learned about author Sylvia Shultz and her Spirits of Christmas: The Dark Side of the Holidays book. (Who I then hunted down and asked to be a guest on the radio show.)
I also often share a lot of THL’s links on Facebook and Twitter.
And if you pay attention to the sources in the Haunted Headlines posts, you may have noticed The Haunted Librarian as a frequent one.
Pays to Advertise
I tried to reach out to her a couple of times but couldn’t seem to connect.
In a strange twist of fate, she found me!
She stumbled across the Paracons & Horror Events section and noticed the Writers Wanted ad in the sidebar. (Or maybe it was from the menu. Either way, it caught her eye, she liked what she read and applied.)
She even wrote about the Paracons & Horror Fests page!
My Reaction to Her Email
Here & There
Don’t worry. If you’re a fan of her blog too, she’s not going anywhere.
She’s going to continue her great work there. She’s just wanting to branch out and write elsewhere too.
And HJ is one of the places she’ll be contributing additional posts!
Please help me in extending her a hearty welcome to the Skeleton Crew!
Super excited to see what kind of great posts she has in store for us…
About The Haunted Librarian
This is straight from the About section on her blog:
A former librarian, the Haunted Librarian started the blog www.thehauntedlibrarian.com to share her research, investigations, and photography of the various places she explores. As part of a team of paranormal investigators with Archer Paranormal Investigations (API), the Haunted Librarian focused on the historical aspects of the haunting and attempted to link the past with the present. API is now an online fictional novel.
At the age of 3, The Haunted Librarian experienced her first paranormal event. At the time her family was living in Reno, Nevada. One evening her mother found her sitting in the stairwell “playing” with an unknown girl. Since that experience, she has attempted to learn as much on the topic, as well as conduct historical research on haunted locations. Further, the Haunted Librarian spends a great deal of time in cemeteries. She wants to share her photographs and stories with others.
The Haunted Librarian holds an M.A. in Library and Information Sciences; an M.A. in Professional Writing; and a J.D. degree.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
