Hollywood Ghost Hunters

I came across a press release about the Hollywood Ghost Hunters last week, but (like with most everything else) I didn’t have time to get to it then. However, in keeping with the theme of Movie Monday today, I figured it’d fit in nicely today.

Two things caught my eye about the Hollywood Ghost Hunters.

  1. Its membership is comprised of horror film professionals. It’s co-founders are Kane Hodder (‘Jason Voorhees’ in “Friday the 13th”) and Rick McCallum (‘Darkwolf’ in “Darkwolf”), and other team members include R.A. Mihailoff (‘Leatherface’ in the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3”), Adam Green (writer/director of “Hatchet”) and Chris Carnel (‘The Miner’ in “Bloody Valentine 3D”).
  2. They’re currently screening suggestions for haunted locales to investigate.

However, something else caught my eye. The following quote. (Especially given my fascination with Ghost TV posts lately.)

“At the heart of Hollywood Ghost Hunters is the fact that everybody in the group is somehow related to filmmaking and or TV, and who better to delve into the truth and reality of ghosts, than people who create the illusion of the supernatural for a living,” remarks Richard Friedman, director and producer and HGH member. “We have actors who play famous movie creatures and killers, directors who conceive and execute the illusions, and special effects people who make the supernatural a cinematic visual reality. There is no team out there that is more qualified than us to prove or disprove the authenticity of the things that we see on a ghost hunt.”

Their recent Haunt Jaunts include the Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Alabama, the South Pittsburg Hospital in Tennessee and the David Oman house in Los Angeles (site of the Manson murders). Below is a YouTube clip from part of their investigation of the South Pittsburgh Hospital.

  1. Jeez, I’d much rather see these guys (entertainment wise) doing ghost hunts than a bunch of plumbers or good ole Texas boys. Seems they’d probably have a bit of an advantage over capturing proof and debunking. Still not scientists, like I want, but not bad.

Personally I think Kane Hodder is kind of cute. Who knew? The character he plays is so freaking freaky! I liked your comment. FUNNY! Yet also true…
