Movie Monday: Phasma Ex Machina

I have not been as excited to share a Movie Monday trailer with you as I am to share this one for Phasma Ex Machina.

I was a little worried I might not have a Movie Monday blog this week. Then I checked my followers on Twitter and saw @PhasmaExMachina was a new one. Like I do with all followers, I went to check them out and BINGO! Found my Movie Monday story.

Indie though it may be, I think we all know by now that in no way implies “inferior” anymore. And let me be perfectly clear, there is nothing that looks inferior about Phasma Ex Machina. If it’s as good as the trailer, I dare say this is the kind of movie a lot us have been waiting for. (And even though it’s going to draw the now inevitable comparisons to Paranormal Activity, I’m thinking it could be in a league with Sixth Sense too –if the actual movie is as good as it looks. Man, I’m hoping!)

And when I say it looks good, I do mean GOOD! I thought right away of Autumnforest and some of the theories she sets forth on Ghost Hunting Theories when I saw the first 10 seconds. It gave me chills. I couldn’t find her exact articles, but I know she’s posed a similar “what if” like this movie does.

But the consequences…oh wow. Chilling. Spooky. Even overused as it is, “spine-tingling” comes to mind.

Check it out for yourself. But I have to add this disclaimer: I’m not responsible for the resulting goosebumps or excited anticipation it may cause!

  1. Oh boy!!!! I’ve waited my entire life for this movie. The night when I was 10 years old and sat on the stairs of our house with my recorder, capturing the booted footsteps going up–I remember thinking….how can I make this happen more frequently? More consistently? More available for others to sense? Since ghost hunting, I’ve found a 100% correlation between geomagnetic activity and active hunting nights. I’m even right now working on my “When We Prove Ghosts” blog post about the concept of amplifying that resultant energy to make more action occur. This is tooooo weird! Thanks so much for sharing it. I’ve literally waited my whole life for this movie–it’s how I would have done it.

  2. Hey all,

It’s Matt Osterman, writer/director of Phasma Ex Machina. I just wanted to drop in and say thank you for all the kind words. I’ve worked ridiculously hard to make this movie happen and it means a lot to me that the concept and story resonate with you. The supernatural is something I’ve been intrigued about since I was very young and I’m happy to see that the scientific aspects hold water with people that know what they’re talking about.

As you correctly pointed out, Phasma Ex Machina is an independent film. And in that world, distribution is never guaranteed. The only thing we have in our control is to try to build the audience ourselves. If we have enough people that want to see it, then we can convince companies to help share the movie with the world. If you feel inclined, we’d love for people to follow us on facebook and/or twitter and sign up for our e-newsletter. You can go to http://www.phasmamovie.com/join-us for all the links. Again, thank you so much the support.

See??? I KNEW this was right up your alley, Autumnforest! Am I getting to know you or what? Your theory…VERY interesting! I knew you had recently written something about geomagnetism and it’s affect on “hunting” but darned if I could find it right away to link up with this blog. So I just did a generic link to your site. Looking forward to that other blog post and theory you mentioned too. I may not read it right away seeing as how I’m still behind, BUT…I WILL GET THERE!

Matt: HI! WOW! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your awesome comment. SUPER exciting to hear directly from you. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR MOVIE! And the fact that you took the time to stop by like this? Well…you’ve sold me even more. It’s obvious you care about this movie a lot, and that speaks volumes. Whatever I can do to help spread the word, I’m going to do it!!!!
