Being a medium and communicating with spirits can be both rewarding and discouraging. On one hand, you can connect people with a loved one who has passed away, letting the living know that the dead are in fact still among us. On the other hand, you are met with a high degree of skepticism due to the fear of the unknown. Furthermore, some “mediums” have given the whole art a bad name. It’s a wonder why people choose to be mediums at all.

The fact is that you don’t actually choose to be a medium. It is something that you either have or not. Many phony psychics decide to be a medium — for recognition, money, or other nefarious reasons. However, true mediums are chosen. It often starts from a young age, experiencing things you can’t fully explain or even understand until you tap into your inner paranormal essence.

So, have you ever experienced any of these sensations below? If so, you might be a medium.

1. An Attraction to The Paranormal

Chances are that if you are reading Haunt Jaunts, you have a strong interest in the paranormal and paranormal activity. This is usually a curiosity that has always been a part of you — enjoying accounts of ghost stories, documented hauntings, and maybe even traveling so you can experience it yourself. This curiosity could also be rooted in, or involve, a long-standing exploration of religion. Religion is introduced to most everyone at a young age, as well as the notion of an afterlife. Expand on your attraction to the paranormal to understand if you can go further and are in fact able to communicate with the dead.

2. You Have Experienced Unexplained Things as a Child

You may not have known it at the time or even remember it, but some things that happened in your childhood could be because you’ve had the extreme empathic capabilities all along. You may have recognized that a family member passed away, but may not have understood the mysterious conditions behind it or that you saw them after they died. Or, maybe it was that imaginary friend that was all too real — prompting your fearful parents to tell you to stop talking to them.

Since these things happen to you as a child, you may not be able to comprehend the supernatural elements behind them. A doll you loved may wind up in different places other than where you left them last, and you probably wouldn’t notice. These experiences can be little, insignificant things, or traumatic events you didn’t fully understand at the time. Whatever the case may be, this reaffirms that you do not choose to be a medium, rather you have had the ability your whole life.

You may also recall these experiences later in life. And now, as an adult, you might have been chosen to re-experience these things since you can process them better, now fully understanding how bizarre these instances really were.

3. Your Dreams May Be Telling You Something

Dreams are directly related to your subconscious, and it may be the case that your subconscious is trying to tell you something. Dreams can be creepy, however they have significant meaning behind them. For example, a dream where your teeth are falling out could mean that you are trying to handle a great deal of stress. Or, if you are trying to run from something in your dream and you can’t, if could mean that you are unconfident about a certain situation in your life. A medium may take this a step further with lucid dreaming.

Lucid dreaming may be a clear sign that you are a medium. Lucid dreaming is when you are conscious that you are dreaming, and are able to interact with the people (spirits) and surroundings of the dream. Experiencing lucid dreams usually is by happenstance and doesn’t happen very often, however, you can master lucid dreaming to happen more frequently. For example, during lucid dreaming, you may be able to communicate with the dead, and they may even be able to show you how they died or where they are buried!

4. You Can Feel The Room

Ever walk into a room and feel intense feelings to leave, or that you are not wanted? Many mediums can experience feelings of emotion such as anxiety and anger just by standing in a room. In fact, it’s how they can determine that other spirits are in the room. Different feelings that mediums can experience are pressure such as a sense of heaviness, heat, or even burning sensations. If this sounds like something you’ve undergone, you may want to check further into your medium abilities.

5. You’ve Actually Encountered The Paranormal

The most obvious way to find out that you are a medium is if you have made contact with the supernatural before. Many people go through life never seeing any trace of a ghost; however, if you are continually experiencing ghosts or making contact with spirits, you are a medium. Your connection with otherworldly beings could have started as a child, or it could have just been by happenstance as an adult. Whether you were actively channeling a spirit, or are merely able to see them, they are trying to communicate with you.

You are given signs all throughout your life that you may be a medium. Take the information above to look back and determine if you have ever experienced these things. There are many more indications that you may be a medium, however, if you’ve experienced any of the above, it is worth further proper investigation.
