You know, I’ve been through a lot in the past few years especially, and I’ve seen a lot of kindnesses –especially from people I’ve never physically met. Those are the ones that astound me most.
They also make for the best stories. I love hearing examples of people passionate about the same thing working together and helping each other out. The following is one such story….
I’ve only “met” Chad over at Chateau GRRR online. But do you know what he did for me? He made me some kick ass new banners.
I think I had mentioned when we first started chatting that I wanted fancy banners. I saw his and asked how he did it and could he give me some tips.
He shared how he’d made his, but then he said, “If you really want some I think I can help. I’m really busy at the moment but I’ll work something up and get it to you.”
This was several months ago. Since then he’s checked in from time to time saying, “I haven’t forgotten about you. I’ll get you the banners yet.”
I thought the offer alone was super nice. I know how busy goes. But do you know that Chad got me some designs a few weeks back? Then it was my turn to be so busy I couldn’t even look at them!
But when I did…my heart stopped.
“Really? He made all of these beautiful banners for me to choose from?” (He hadn’t just made one or two; he had FIVE for me to consider!)
I immediately showed my husband, who normally just nods politely at anything having to do with my “crazy Haunt Jaunts thing” (as he calls it). But even he was blown away.
“WOW! When did you learn to get so fancy?”
“Not me. One of my buddies made them for me.”
“That’s sure a talented buddy, not to mention a nice one. Wow. That’s impressive. Super sharp. And so you.”
Uh huh! I’m sayin’!
There was one I couldn’t get to work, though. That was fine. I was having a hard time picking between the other four. One less made my job easier. Still, I told Chad I saw all but the one. He immediately worked his magic and resent it so I could view it.
When I got a load of that fifth one…I don’t even have the words. If I thought the others were awesome, this one was like how I felt seeing Wayne for the first time. It was “the” one, my banner soul mate.
Number five (which was really number one in order of how they were sent) was the banner I’d always dreamed of and longed for and didn’t even know it.
And that, my friends, is how Haunt Jaunts came by some new banners to show off for its Anniversary Bash thanks to Chateau GRRR.
Chad, thank you so very much again. I have a feeling we will meet one of these days in person. Expect a big ol’ hug from me first and foremost. If possible I’d also like to treat you and your wife to a drink (at the very least), but if we all have time for a dinner that’d be even better.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
That’s perfectly you! What a nice guy! He has a cool site too!
Nice! So cool for him to do that for you.
Thanks ladies! He’s awesome. Even before he did this I couldn’t say enough nice things about him. But now??? He’s my hero!!!!
I love them. What a sweetheart for making those for you.
THANKS GHFans!
Yes, sweetheart sums him up, Julie! Good word choice!
What a nice gesture! It makes the gift they gave, no matter how small a huge impact on the recipient.
