The Haunted Mansion and Scooby Doo may be turning 50, but guess who celebrates the Big One Oh in 2019? Yep. That’s right. Yours truly is turning 10 this year! (Meaning Haunt Jaunts, that is. Not me, obviously.)

But it just so happens that ten years ago, on April 1, 2009, I launched this little bad girl. #Holla

Well, technically it was March 30. Smalls pointed that out to me after he did some digging to see exactly when I published the first post. But that was after I’d sent out a heads up to newsletter subscribers about the Pick-A-Pin contest was coming. I said I’d start the contest on April 1. Didn’t want them to think it was a joke, because its not.

Anyway, back to the celebrations.

Present Time

What fun is a birthday party without gifts? (And GIFs apparently, as evidenced by those you’ll see scattered throughout this post.)

But, um , hold up a sec.

Yikes. That sounds a little materialistic, doesn’t it? Birthdays being all about the gifts.

For the record, I don’t normally receive much stuff on my actual bday. I’m not into “things” per se.

I’m speaking (er, writing) more stereo-typically. Yow know, the common trappings associated with birthdays: balloons, cake, and presents. Now cake…that is something none of my birthdays go without. That’s my favorite part of getting to celebrate turning a year older!

Which, hmm…I guess I could get a nice cake to celebrate HJ’s bday, right? The Skeleton Crew would surely love that.

I’d invite you over to have a slice, but since that might be a little hard to accomplish, let’s get back to the gift idea. Because celebrating 10 years sounds like a great excuse for a giveaway, doesn’t it?

And I know just the cool prizes to offer…

Pins

While doing some personal shopping on Amazon, I ran across some things which led to updating the Skareporium.

If you shop Amazon, you know how they show you recommendations or sponsored products and such? Well, whatever I was searching for (I don’t remember now), popped up with some pin recommendations. Specifically, these few:

Pins? What the heck? A quick investigation revealed so many amazing ones. I knew I’d have to create a new list in the Skareporium. After I added the Skeleton Heart Hands and Spooky All Year ones to my cart, that is. #Priorities!

But after I ordered them, I did create a Para & Horror Pins list. That’s where the prizes for this contest will come from.

Pick Your Pin

When I gave newsletter subscribers the heads up about this contest, I gave them an early, bonus entry. (I like to reward subscribers with perks like that. So if you’re not one but want in on that VIP treatment, visit the sign up page here.)

Now it’s everybody’s turn to score an entry. Here’s what to do:

  1. Check out the Para & Horror Pins idea list in our Skareporium.
  2. Find the pin that appeals to you the most.
  3. Click on it and either copy & paste the pin’s URL or it’s name and post that in your entry comment. (Or you can describe it too.)

Rules

  • Entries limited to one per person. (With the exception of newsletter subscribers, who get details on how to claim extra entries.)
  • Entries accepted until April 14, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
  • Three (3) winners will be chosen on April 15, 2019.
