I’m fairly certain both Nathan from A State of Mind and Dinell from the Weekly Spectre have sent me Twibe invites on Twitter at one time or another. However, as I sometimes (most times) am, I can be a bit slow.
I didn’t understand Twibes or how it all worked. I spent the better part of last week getting a handle on it. I even joined a few Twibes. (Though I’m not sure they’re any of the ones Nathan or Dinell suggested. I wasn’t sure what I was doing at first…have I mentioned that already?)
Anyway, it’s been about week since I’ve gotten my Twibe bearings. I’ve been impressed with what it’s done since I got hooked up. (And I now understand the promise Nathan and Dinell saw in it when they mentioned they’d started using it.)
It’s not only inched my Followers number up, but it added to my Listed number in a big way. Not to mention I’ve found great new people to follow as well. Fantastic!
Speaking of finding things, I found some haunted attraction and haunted houses lists to list myself with. (Lists differ from Twibes, but are also useful.) But as far as finding a Twibe consisting of haunted destinations…nada. (There are travel Twibes, and there are paranormal Twibes, but nothing combined.)
So I decided to start one and named it (what else), but Haunted-Destinations.
Here’s what it’s all about:
This is a group for anyone interested in or involved with paranormal tourism. CVBs; ghost tour guides, owners, or takers; haunted hotels; eerie eateries; historic sites or museums with a haunted history; authors of haunted places books. If you love haunted places then this Twibe is for you! All ghost enthusiasts welcome! Twibe tag: #hauntjaunt
And before I could even start spreading the word (heck, I was still in the process of setting up the Twibe!) some awesome Tweeter buddies, @MommyDsKitchen and @JenBlaney, jumped immediately on board and joined. (P.S. Thanks so much, girls! I don’t know how you knew, but I’m glad you’re in the know like you are!)
There’s plenty o’room in the group for more, though. If you do Twibes, or are interested in getting started, check it out. (It’s not like it costs anything. Totally free. And you sign up with your Tweeter account. What it’s really all about is a great way to meet other Tweeters with like interests.)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Sounds like one I would like to join, I will check it out.
Twitter confuses me most of the time, but I joined this twibe! At least I figured something out.
Hey, it’s a trio of Js leaving comments! LOL!
Julie, THANKS! I hope you will. (And then look at me and Mommy D’s Twibe profiles to see the other Twibes we’re on and join them too. They’re really good sources as well.)
Jason: SWEET! THANKS! See, Mommy D and Nathan helped me. I saw them using it and started to figure it out. (It took me a while, but it’s a great tool for helping to meet more Tweeters with your like interests.)
Jessica: LOL! You’re so good at Twitter though. I’m stunned to hear you say it confuses you. And glad you figured Twibes out. (Now that confused me for a bit until I took some time to play around and understand it. That’s how I am though. I’m a tactile learner!)
I was thinking about starting a Twibe. What is involved? Is there a lot of up keep and duties or does it run itself? Have SO much going on I don’t need to add another thing to my manic schedule LOL
Mommy D
You should start one! There’s not much work from what I can see. You set it up, plug in the keywords, make a description and send out invites. (I haven’t done that last part yet, but I will.) I’ll be sure to join yours if you do!
