Mommy D’s Amazing Gift: The Unveiling of Haunts and Hounds’ Logo

Wednesday was not a very good day for me. I’ve been having some new health issues unrelated (I hope) to my cancer. I had my three month checkup this past Tuesday and asked my oncologist about them, though. He told me to go see my primary, who got me in the next day, had me do some tests that came back with concerning results, which required setting up further tests…blah, blah, blah.

IT CAN ALWAYS BE WORSE

That was upsetting, but even worse was the email I got later that afternoon about my aunt. She got cancer right before I did, went through chemo and has been in remission until recently. Not only did her original cancer reoccur, it appears the chemo also gave her leukemia. So now she’s trying to cope with two cancers. Lovely.

At any rate, her doctors were talking “end dates” and on Wednesday, after getting another round of test results back, they gave her 3 months.

Devastating.

Needless to say, I was feeling pretty low Wednesday.

GIFTS

Until I visited my personal Facebook page and saw Dinell (a.k.a. Mommy D of Mommy D’s Kitchen, who reveals her “dark side” on the Weekly Spectre) had posted something to my wall: “A present for you!”

Attached was the amazing button featured at the start of this post.

She had kind of given me the heads up she was thinking of making a button for Haunts and Hounds, if I didn’t mind. She said she had gotten a new software and was looking for a new project.

But did I really expect her to do it? Well, yes, but not as fast as she did. Nor did I expect her to totally NAIL the kind of vibe I was looking for in a logo.

It wasn’t like when Chad from Chateau Grrr made the awesome banners for Haunt Jaunts. He had offered to make them but I had told him what kind of vision I had. (Sort of. I hadn’t told him about the feet. Just that I wanted something animated. The feet were all him.)

But I hadn’t told Mommy D anything. Not about what kind of feeling I hoped to convey, colors, nothing. Yet, when I saw the button it took my breath away. It was EXACTLY my heart’s desire come to life!

Now I have to get my rear in gear and give Haunts and Hounds the makeover I’ve been meaning to give it. It has to start looking as sharp as its slick new logo button!
