What will Zak Bagans do with his newly acquired “murder” house? The house at 3301 Waverly Drive in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California, was barely on the market three weeks when he acted fast to snatch it up. Why?
It’s in a beautiful and desirable area of L.A., near Griffith Park with views of the San Gabriel mountains. While the Vegas-based Bagans might appreciate the home’s location and vistas, it’s the home’s history that most appealed to him.
The LaBianca Murders
On August 10, 1969, the owners of the home at that time, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, were murdered by members of the Mansion Family.
Unlike the more famous Sharon Tate murders on Cielo Drive, Manson was with with the family members the night the LaBiancas were murdered. However, like the Tate murders, he didn’t do any of the actual killing. He instructed other family members to do it all. But he was at least present on the La Biancas’ property while they were being killed.
Paranormal Activity?
Have there ever been any reports of paranormal activity at the LaBianca house?
If there has, it’s been kept on the down low.
Unlike the Oman House, which was built 200 feet from the house at 10050 Cielo Drive, where Sharon Tate lived with her husband (director Roman Polanski, who wasn’t there the night she and four others were killed). David Oman openly documents the activity he frequently experiences and even sometimes host events where he welcomes ghost hunters to come investigate for themselves.
10050 Cielo Drive was demolished in 1994. A new home went up in that space, but with a new address. If those owners have activity, they’re not as public about it as David Oman. Same goes for the previous owners of 3301 Waverly Drive, a.k.a. the LaBianca murder house. If there’s ghosts, they’re not advertising them.
So why does Zak Bagans, the famous host of the popular paranormal TV show Ghost Adventures, want it?
Because Bagans collects more than haunted things. He also collects things with dark histories or ties to them. This qualifies.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt he’ll have a new mini-series airing on Travel Channel during their Ghostober event, Ghost Adventures: Serial Killer Spirits. Charles Manson or any of his followers aren’t among the serial killers Bagans will be investigating.
This season. But if this Serial Killer Spirits mini-series is a success? Perhaps the LaBianca house will be included in an episode next year?
Or…
Documentary and/or…?
I think it’s safe to say Zak will do some filming of some kind inside the house. Whether it will be for a regular Ghost Adventures episode, or a stand-alone documentary akin to Demon House, though, we’ll have to wait and see.
Or will he do something else with it? Will he open it to tours? Investigations?
Or will 3301 Waverly Drive meet the same fate as the Demon House in Gary, Indiana? Will Zak tear this one down too?
Again, we’ll have to wait and see. The only thing we can be sure of is that this is just the beginning of the story…
Check-In
How likely do you think it’ll be that Zak finds a demon or other dark force in his new murder house?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I bet he does a stand-alone documentary in the house. And I think he’ll find ordinary ghosts, not any demons . . . shivers, but I don’t like to think about the latter at all!
I do not believe for one minute that this house has one iota of a spirit/paranormal activity. I think this is nothing more than one expensive publicity stunt. I for one find Zak Bagans Ghost Adventure shows staged, embellished and over acted. I do believe Zak Bagans and his crew will “find” something in his new house, and some folks will believe it – hook, line, sinker. It’s amazing that people lived in this house for years and never one peep about paranormal activity. Pure publicity IMO.
I’m betting there will be some kind of documentary too, and I’m with you. I hope no demons. That would make me sad. Because he should change from Ghost Adventures to Demon Adventures if that’s the case, since he seems to have a propensity to find them everywhere… (But hopefully not here.)
A friend who runs the Wednesday night Haunted Hour on Twitter said she found a mention of an owner saying there was an object that moved by itself in the home? But I haven’t been able to find the source yet…if there is one. But if I find any mention, I’ll share it with you. I, however, am of the same mindset as you: this is all a big ol’ publicity stunt. And you’re right…some people will fall for it.
