National Ghost Hunting Day’s World’s Largest Ghost Hunt 2019

What better way to kick off Fall’s first weekend than with National Ghost Hunting Day and its World’s Largest Ghost Hunt?

For 2019 there are at least 72 locations participating, and, yes, in multiple countries, which is what makes this a worldwide event.

And I venture to say a record-breaking one? How do we get the Guinness World Book of Records involved? Because until Geister Maria Schmidt, the woman responsible for starting this event, started it four years ago, there had never been anything like it.

Sure, there are plenty of ghost hunts on just about any given weekend, but so many all on the same day? And for the same reason? (Which is to raise awareness for the importance of historical preservation.)

I have slacked on updating the Ghost Tour & Ghost Hunting page (again), so I have not added all 72 National Ghost Hunting Day’s World’s Largest Ghost Hunt events. (I think I might have only one of them on there.)

However, I can tell you a little bit more about it, and include links here in case you’re interested in seeing if there’s a ghost hunt near you that you want to join, or which ones online you might like to follow and watch from the comfort of your home.

Locations

On the National Ghost Hunting Day’s site, there are links to the Locations, as  well as a Map of Locations. Here are the countries listed in order of the ones with the most World’s Largest Ghost Hunt events:

Types of Haunted Places

There is any kind of place imaginable, including:

• Haunted cafes, restaurants and taverns

• Haunted parks
• Haunted historical societies
• A haunted funeral home (Old South Funeral Home)
• A haunted ship (SS City of Milwaukee)
• A haunted hospital (Old South Pittsburgh Hospital)
• A haunted cemetery (Waverly Cemetery)

If there’s not an event near you, or if you’d just rather watch from home, the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt and its participating teams and haunted places makes it easy. You can stream the investigations.

National Ghost Hunting Day has teamed up with getvokl to stream many of the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt investigations. Here’s how to watch:

2. Search the hashtag #LargestGhostHunt to find investigations.
3. Stream at the designated time on September 28th.

Decisions, Decisions

The question I have (which is part rhetorical and part really wanting to know, so please feel free to answer) is: How do you decide which to watch if you’re not attending an investigation?

I don’t know. I’m totally speaking for myself on that. I really don’t know which I’d choose, because I’m the most indecisive person ever. Too many choices is not good for me. If I know what I want, I’m great. But if I don’t? Complete Analysis Paralysis. It’s a total nightmare.

Do you pick based on the team investigating or the place being investigated?

This choice is at least easy. If I knew any of the teams, I’d watch to show my support. Otherwise, I’d pick a place. One I haven’t yet jaunted to.

But that’s the problem. There’s a lot participating in the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt I haven’t yet made it to. I feel the paralysis creeping in…
