I have creepy dolls on the brain this weekend. Robert the doll started it. But I’m not the only one.
Jessica and Andrea (of Ghost Stories and Haunted Places and Ghost Stories, respectively) also have creepy haunted dolls on their brains too. (See “Robert, The Cursed Doll” and “Robert The Doll”.) Jessica posted her Robert the doll article recently, Andrea a couple of months back.
Kind of like Mommy D of the Weekly Spectre. She, too, pondered the question of creepy dolls a while back. (See “Haunted Dolls ~ Paranormal or Just Plain Creepy?” And it’s a good post. Not only does she talk about Robert, but also about one named Mandy.)
And then there’s Autumnforest of Ghost Hunting Theories. She’s always a good one for creepy dolls. She’s got a dummy named Dale (man, I sure hope he doesn’t take offense to me referring to him like that!) that she pals around with and who makes regular appearances on her blog. (See such posts as “Dale the Doll: I’m Planning My Escape” and “Dale the Doll: She Slipped Me a Mickey”, to name a few. She’s got lots of Dale posts.)
Today on Facebook one of the other pages I follow shared a link to one freaky doll commercial. (I wish I could remember who it was. I thought I had “liked” their post for reference but apparently I didn’t.)
Anyway, I was able to find the commercial. Here it is:
WTF? That was supposed to entice little girls to ask mom and dad to get them that doll???
That one definitely takes the cake, but guess what I discovered today? There are no shortage of creepy doll commercials on YouTube. Check out these other ones I found. (Disclaimer: I’m not responsible for any nightmares you have tonight!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Thanks for the mention! This is way to scary for me. I really hate dolls, even if they aren’t haunted. Have you heard of the island of the dolls? As far as I am concerned that looks like the scary place in the world. I’m just glad I’m not the only one who’s afraid of dolls. I stayed in my old family house last week and I had to take the giant doll out of the room I was staying in and put it in the attic.
Thanks for the link love! Certainly does seem everyone has creepy dolls on the brains. I couldn’t deal with a whole island of alleged haunted dolls. Won’t be going to La Isla de las Muñecas any time soon.
haa! Holy cow, that Baby Secret is creepy, and I like dolls!
LMAO! Jessica, you are really into that creepy doll island, aren’t you? It’s never far from your brain! You were talking about that even down in South Pittsburgh! (But with good reason. That is a freaky looking place, uh huh!)
Andrea, you’re welcome! Once I knew you’d written about Robert, I just HAD to find your post and link it up!
Chris, your comment made me laugh the most. I didn’t even think about how much you like dolls! What I would’ve given to see your face as you watched that creepy commercial…
Brenda, I think my sister had one too that I inherited but she had totally massacred it. She chopped off the hair, and I think maybe broke off the head, but my dad was able to put it back on. I NEVER touched that doll!!!!!!!!!!! Hated it. (Now Barbies were a different story…I played with them until I was 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
THANKS for all the chuckle-inducing comments, girls!
It must be Robert the Doll week. I have seen so many posts on this wildly creepy little doll just this week alone, lol. He is very scary as is his story. Those were great old commerical. I also like the Post Office (or UPS) commerical with the clown. I posted it on my blog awhile ago: http://above-the-norm.blogspot.com/2010/01/creepy-clown-commercial.html
OMG, Julie! I was about to comment I don’t remember seeing that commercial (on your post I was going to say that), then I was SHOCKED to see I HAD commented. How quickly I forget things these days…
That is a creepy ass commercial. But funny too. I’m going to tweet it. 😉
Isn’t that a great commercial, Brenda? I’m happy you went to check it out.
And as far as I know no toys ever harmed my sister…just the other way around!!!! LOL
That commercial with the human spirits in it… “Oh yeah, these dolls are actually alive and have little girls living in them. Don’t make them angry or they will kill you in your sleep. Buy one today!~”
Yeah. No. I’m not scared by much, but THAT is rather disturbing.
LOL, Brynn! I agree with you 100%! (Not much phases me, but that? Eeeek!)
