In the middle of December I wondered if some Tweets were a delusional rambling, hoax or warning to Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum. Luckily we all know now it was harmless. Well, maybe not harmless, but at least uneventful. Thankfully.
In addition to reporting the Tweets to the museum and Twitter, I also contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The LVMPD sent me a link to the Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management – Homeland Security, State of Nevada Fusion Centers, a website where I could report my “See Something, Say Something” concern. There, I explained how this even came to my attention and attached screenshots of several of the most sinister Tweets.
And how did this even come to my attention? In my original post I said I’d explain more after Christmas, so here goes…
The Call
In addition to Haunt Jaunts’ podcast, I also do a podcast with my girlfriends Sara and Deedee, A Haunt Mess. After recording one of our AHM episodes, they got to talking about the #HauntedHour on Twitter and some of the people who show up.
They brought up a couple people who were more drama or off-kilter than the average para enthusiast. They both agreed one guy in particular often Tweeted strange things. I was curious what they meant, so they pulled up some examples to show me. A couple immediately stood out to me:
Scary Serendipity?
At the time I learned of these Tweets, it was 10 days until I was going to be in Vegas. One of the places I hoped to visit while I was there was Zak’s Haunted Museum.
Was it a crazy coincidence or weird twist of fate that I happened to come across them? It felt very serendipitous to me, because I’m very rarely on Twitter. I schedule stuff to post there, but I don’t check my feed there everyday. Not even every week. And I don’t follow the account that posted these disturbing Tweets. It was random and purely coincidental they came to my attention. That’s why I paid such close attention. Perhaps too close?
Stalking the Stalker
For a time between December 15 through December 21, the account posting the disturbing Tweets went private. Since I wasn’t a follower, I couldn’t see what they were posting.
Knowing what I knew from the Tweets that had been posted, December 21st was a likely day “the event” might happen. Out of an abundance of caution, my husband and I decided not to go on December 21 as originally planned.
The night of December 21 I checked his Twitter account again and saw it had been switched back to public –and that the man had visited the museum that day.
As I said before, thankfully nothing had happened.
I found myself once again absorbed in his Tweets (or “obsessed” as my husband put it). The Tweets were still concerning, but it appeared the “crystals” he brought to do whatever work he felt needed to be done were actually crystals. Phew.
The Tweets That Followed
Here’s some of the other Tweets directly preceding his visit to the museum, as well as one after his visit. I’ll let you make of them what you will.
I’m just glad it all turned out to be nothing. I wish him well in his quest to find peace or whatever it is he’s looking for.
Check-In
Have you been to the Haunted Museum? (I did end up going. A post about that will follow soon!)

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’m relieved. I was worried about something violent.
I’m looking forward to your museum report!
I’m not gonna lie. I was super freaked out by all of this. It was giving me nightmares!
