Travel Channel is really hooking me up lately, this time with an opportunity to talk with Steve DiSchiavi and Amy Allan of The Dead Files. The duo returned for the season 12 premiere on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

A lot of people know who they are and what the show is about, but for those who may not, here’s a quick summary:

Steve DiSchiavi is a former NYPD homicide detective. Amy Allan is a physical medium who sees and communicates with the dead. In each episode, DiSchiavi and Allan first investigate each case separately.

DiSchiavi utilizes his detective skills to interviews witnesses and experts, as well as researches the history and facts behind each location.

Allan assesses the property to identify what underlying entities reside there.

They keep their findings hidden from each other by avoiding all contact with one another. At least until they come together at the very end to reveal their shocking discoveries to the property owners –and each other.

“Last Call”

I was sent a screener for The Dead Files episode “Last Call,” which will premiere Thursday, March 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. I was asked if I’d be interested in interviewing Steve and Amy about it.

The second I spotted the email in my inbox, I jumped at the chance! Even before reading what the episode was about, which is:

Steve DiSchiavi and Amy Allan travel to Palatka, Florida, to investigate violent paranormal activity at a downtown bar. The owners claim all hell broke loose when they began renovations, and they fear the family business is cursed.

I quick glanced at a few scenes to get an idea about what kind of paranormal activity the bar owners claimed to have. Some pretty alarming stuff, such as:

  • A ceiling fan dropping from the ceiling and crashing to the ground. (Luckily no one was underneath it at the time.)
  • Objects being thrown
  • People being touched and pushed down the stairs

As Steve pointed out, the bar is at stake. All it would take is one patron getting severely injured and suing them to cause financial hardship. Understandably they want to prevent that, but most importantly they don’t want anyone to get hurt.

Questions?

The goal is to ask questions about the particular episode noted above. Watching the entire episode will hopefully help me form intelligent questions. Or at least more informed ones.

I’m not sure if the show description sparks any questions for you, but hit me with whatever you may have. Who knows? I may get the chance to sneak in a non-episode, but series-specific question for them. So if you’ve got anything The Dead Files that you’d like to know, check-in! Maybe I’ll be able to work it into the chat and get it answered for you!

  1. Court, is “season 2 premiere” correct? I thought they were on something like season 12 or 13…

  2. I wonder if in busy, populous places like Palatka (Palatka itself is a small town, but it’s in the middle of a larger metro area), are the entitles usually recently dead people, or are there still spirits from 100s of years ago when indigenous people lived there?

You know what Bast…you are SO right! I copy and pasted from a press release I was sent. But I think I may have rearranged the copy a bit and perhaps left off the 1??? Great catch. Will fix! Thank you!

Okay so you are psychic. Or just so super smart and know so much about history that you made this connection. Indigenous people factor HUGE into this episode! HUGE! You freaked me out!!!! And also impressed me!

  5. How often does Amy see relatives who have passed on, surround or follow, their living relatives? Do these dead relatives try/help protect us from spirits and energies that came harm us?

What a great question, Edward. If I ever get to talk to her, I’ll be sure to ask this!
