Updated March 30, 2020
My friend, author Katie Craig, tagged me in a post she saw on Instagram from the @greatpumpkinproject, who in turn had shared it from the originating source, @preservehalloween, about Quarantine-o-ween:

Correction: @preservehalloween was not the originating source. That honor goes to Roxanne Rhoads of A Bewitching Guide to Halloween. (Find both on Insta: @roxannerhoads and @thebewitchingcauldron.)
Preserving Halloween, saving Halloween (the Save Halloween Petition link in the menu will take you to a petition we started to keep Halloween as is), whatever you want to call it, we’re all about this beloved holiday. Let’s get our Quarantine-o-ween on!
Halloween in March
Normally April 30 marks the halfway-to-Halloween mark, but with all this COVID-19, novel coronavirus social distancing stuff we are not living during normal times, are we?
Might as well have a little fun with it.
Plus, who I am kidding? Any time I get a chance to dress up, I’m on it!
I present to you exhibits A, B and C, all taken this March:

How to Participate
Preserve Halloween made it pretty easy to participate in Quarantine-o-ween by neatly laying out the steps with their concise infographic:
- Decorate for Halloween
- Dress up in a Halloween costume
- Take photos (and presumably video)
- Share it online using the tag #quarantineoween
When
Tuesday, March 31, all day long!
Where
Online, so its social distancing, yet still socializing, at its finest!
Check-In
Are you going to dress up and/or decorate for Quarantine-o-ween?
I do believe the Skeleton Crew will have to get in on this fun.
Check It Out
Katie has written a few books, but one you should check out (because I love the title and think it’s so fun) is Let’s Be Creepy Together: True spooky stories from the Carolinas.
Psst. The link above leads to our Amazon affiliate. As noted in our affiliate policy, if you click through and end up buying anything, we may earn a small commission.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
@RoxanneRhoads on Instagram was actually the originator of the Quarantine-O-Ween graphic. I made it and shared on all my social media accounts.
Thanks
OH! Thanks for the heads up, Roxanne! I’ll be sure to fix that in the post!
