SleepOver Clothing: Haunted Places You Can Wear

Last month I got a very interesting email from Danny West, who recently launched a new company: SleepOver Clothing. Here’s how he introduced himself and his business:

Hi guys! I love your site, thank you for providing a place for all my favorite things! I wanted to tell you about my new clothing line featuring haunted places throughout the U.S. We are called SleepOver Clothing and we provide local fans of local haunts a way to represent their region as well as show people they like the spooky. I am trying to get it off the ground and thought you might be able to help…We are pushing our Midwest by Moonlight collection now that features a few of the Midwest’s most notorious and haunted locations.

He had me at “haunted places.” Interest piqued.

I went to check out his site. Here’s what I found.

The Haunts of the Midwest by Moonlight Collection

There are six haunted places featured in SleepOver Clothing’s Midwest by Moonlight collection:

1. Five O Eight – Represents the Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas.
2. Sauer Castle – Kansas City, Kansas
3. Stull Cemetery – Stull, Kansas
4. Lemp Mansion – St. Louis, Missouri
5. St. James Hotel – Red Wing, Minnesota
6. Ritz Theater – Shawnee, Oklahoma

Cover YR Bones

It’s a small start right now. In addition to the six haunted places in their Midwest by Moonlight collection, they also have two other shirts:

1. Home Town Haunts
2. One with the SleepOver Clothing logo

It’s not a shirt, but I liked the “Cover YR Bones” saying on their homepage. It sounds skeleton-ish, which, I’m all about the skeletons. (Psst. Danny. If you made a “cover yr bones” shirt or face mask? I’d buy that in a heartbeat!”

Is SleepOver Clothing T-Shirts or Pajamas?

The name is a little misleading, because at first I thought it was PJs. Maybe they’ll add that to their products at some point, but for now they sell T-shirts.

So why “SleepOver” clothing? Here’s what I found on the About page that sort of answers it:

We love exploring the unknown and unique hometown history haunted as time marches on. Are there lost souls inhabiting these places? Let’s SleepOver and find out.

My thought is: T-shirts make great investigation apparel. They’re comfy for long nights, and they make great fall-asleep-in-your-clothes shirts!

What Do the Ghosts Think?

I wonder if wearing a SleepOver Clothing shirt at its represented haunted location helps with getting any interaction with the other side? Do the ghosts appreciate those who show enthusiasm for their haunt like that?

It’d be an interesting experiment to try. Perhaps even bringing a change of clothes and seeing if the ghosts notice when you’re wearing the SleepOver Clothing shirt.

That’s a question I’d like to ask Danny.  “Do you know if any investigators have had more interactions while wearing your shirts?”

Q&A

I asked the obvious: “I’m sure people would be interested in why you did this and what gave you the idea.”

Here’s his answer:

I guess the short version is, I’ve always loved horror films and grew up in the oldest city in Kansas which is home to a lot of ghostly tales…inside Leavenworth is Fort Leavenworth which again has some beautiful big old houses that all seem to have stories about being haunted to I was grew up a spooky kid haha. I’m a full-time graphic designer in marketing and work in video production so I thought I should combine all my loves…thus SleepOver Clothing was born. I hand print all the shirts myself too.

Basically, as he put it: History + Spooky + Design.
