Legendary Eats is a new eerie eaterie in Lexington, Virginia, that serves spooky sandwich creations named after myths and legends like Sasquatch, the Jersey Devil, Nessie and El Cuco.

I saw a story about them from WSET.com that included a post about their menu from their Facebook page. At first, I got excited because I saw “Lexington” and figured it was the one right up the road from us in Kentucky. Nope. It’s in VA.

That’s okay. Just another thing I want to check out when I finally make it to that state. Especially after I checked them out. Here’s what I found.

Legendary Eats Description

Legendary Eats is a family-owned and operated restaurant located in downtown Lexington, Virginia, the heart of the Shenandoah Valley that specializes in authentic New York Style bagels and a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

Legendary Eats Menu

They serve my favorite meal: breakfast!

But since they also serve lunch, this is the kind of place I could eat at twice in one day. If I ever make it to Lexington, Virginia, I’d do just that too!

The Myths & Legends

Are you familiar with all the myths and legends their sandwiches and salads are named after?

I wasn’t. Here are the ones that were new to me:

  • The Fenrir – child of Loki, a god in Norse mythology.
  • Leeroy Jenkins – I guess you have to be World of Warcraft fan for this one.
  • Balrog – a fictional monster from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
  • Garuda –  a legendary bird or bird-like creature in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythology.

I love that they drew their inspiration from not only mythology of all kinds, but also different religions and pop culture. Very cool!

Some of the creatures sound rather menacing, though. I’d much rather eat a sandwich named after one than meet one in person and fear it might be seeking to make a meal out of me!
