Hello! My name is Courtney Mroch and I’m the Director of Paranormal Tourism at Haunt Jaunts. If you’ve found your way here via Mrs. B’s 31 Days of Halloween Haunted Blog Tour: WELCOME! Likewise, if you’ve found your way here because you follow anyway or you heard about the giveaway, WELCOME! We’re very glad to have you!
A BRIEF INTRO TO HAUNT JAUNTS
You know how they say a picture is worth 1,000 words? I don’t know how much a promo video is worth, but for those of you new to Haunt Jaunts this vid is probably the best way to introduce HJ:
Besides traveling to haunted places and keeping track of paranormal tourism industry trends, here’s a few additional things it might be helpful to know:
- I have this thing for zombies, especially zombie movies
- I love making short videos
- Like most para-peeps, Halloween is my favorite time of year
- Mondays are known as Movie Monday around here (when I have a movie to write about, which I don’t always have)
- I love any reason to throw a party and do a giveaway!
MOVIE MONDAY: COLIN
You know how I mentioned my thing for zombies, especially zombie movies? Colin is a zombie flick that’s been on my radar since I learned of it being screened at last year’s Scarefest movie line up. It’s a tale told through a zombie’s eyes, specifically a zombie lad named Colin.
I recently received a press release on Colin and was astounded to learn two things:
- It was the surprise hit of the Cannes Film Festival, and
- It was basically made with $75 cash –most of which went to a crowbar and tea and cookies for the zombies. (Huh, I thought they preferred brains…)
1ST GIVEAWAY OF THE SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN BLOG PARTY
Like Mrs. B, all month long I’ll be throwing a Halloween Blog Party with giveaways and prizes. I decided to time the first giveaway with Mrs. B’s Haunted Blog Tour.
Now comes the fun part (for me at least). It’s going to involve the other elements I mentioned in my “additional things it might be helpful to know” list.
TRICK OR TREATING HALLOWEEN BLOG PARTY STYLE (a.k.a. THE GIVEAWAY AND HOW TO ENTER)
I shared some info with you. Now I’d like to find out about you. LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW TELLING ME TWO THINGS:
- Your favorite type of horror movie (i.e. slasher, vampires, werewolves, etc.) If you don’t like horror movies, that’s a perfectly acceptable answer too. (Hey, they’re not for everyone!)
- What prize you’d like to win if your number is picked. (That’s right, you get to pick your own prize!) The prize list follows below after the Rules.
RULES
- Entries will be accepted until Thursday October 7
- The drawing will be held and recorded (back to my movie making thing, plus that way you know I’m truly doing a drawing) on Friday October 8. I’ll use the Random Number Generator to pick the winning number. (You will be assigned a number based on the order in which you leave your comment.)
- Only one entry per person.
THE TREATS (a.k.a. THE PRIZES)

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
It’s a pleasure to get to know your page, it’s awesome, so many tings to check and read!
My favorite horror movies are the vampires ones. I just love vampires, can’t get enough of them!
I’d love to get that UV flashlight too, it’s so cool and my little witch would surely love to hunt some ghosts around her, 😉
Kisses from Nydia.
I’m stopping by from Mrs. B’s and I’m going to add you to my October Happenings.
My favorite horror movies have to be vampires and werewolves right behind that. I would pick the Coffin-shaped embalming fluid flask.
love love your blog—so much fun stuff!!
Great site! I am visiting from Mrs. B’s. I love witches and witchcraft based horror movies and then second are Werewolf and Vampire movies. I like prize number 4 the Boo earrings.
Thank you and blessings,
Bex
Thanks for hosting Mrs B’s blog tour today!! Your site is going into my favorites, and I have to say that I completely agree with you…zombies ROCK!!! I’m not sure I could choose a favorite type of horror movie since I love almost all of them, but I think I’d have to say zombies are in my top three, along with vampires and paranormal (ghost) stories. Thank you so much for sharing the info about Colin, I hadn’t heard of it and will definitely be on the lookout for a chance to see it!!!
After looking at all the prize pics, I think I would love to win the black light..I can just think of how fun it would be to play with on Halloween!
Thanks again for having us invade today!!
My favorite type of horror. Paranormal/psychological!
If I win I want the Best Buy Gift Card! WooHoo!
That for being part of the tour….always love visiting your blog – even without a reason 🙂
I love old horror movies….so I guess monster stories are my favorite. I cannot get enough of the Frankenstien story.
I did not see anything spider related in the prize list….so any one would do.
Thanks for doing this….looking forward to hanging out with you this month!
Cheers!
Flew in from Mrs. B’s as well. I love vampire movies too and I do love the idea of a coffin shaped embalming fluid flask. I am definitely adding your site to my list too.
Hugs and sparkles
WG
I also flew in from MRsB’s fabulousness… I crave anything gorey, bloody and creepy! I love anything Rob Zombie… I adore vampires… Sean of the Dead & Zombieland had me cracking up for days! …so, I suppose any and all movies with blood?! *laughs*
I would really dig winning a coffin shaped embalming fluid flask!
I came here from Mrs. B’s! My favorite horror movies are the gory ones. Slasher flicks mostly. The prizes are all awesome! I think I’d prefer either of the gift cards of the flask. My husband would love that flask! LOL!
No favorite “type”, but I will watch as long as he will hold me close :), or if my vicious lhasa poo is home to protect me 🙂 I’m hoping for the Best Buy Gift Card…
I love mixed movies. My favorite kinds are like Zombieland and Paranormal Activity. Zombieland because of the humor and zombies! Paranormal Activity because they keep you thinking about what’s gonna happen next. I would like to either have the $25 Best Buy giftcard or the Boo Bead bracelet. Have a happy freekin early halloween! 😀
My favorite type of horror movie is a psychological thriller, think the original Psycho. Not a fan of overly gory, although I do like zombie films, if they’re done right (28 Days Later, Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead). If I win, I’d go for the Best Buy gift card or the flask. Also, it looks like Netflix will be getting Colin on DVD (whenever it becomes available).
I love the creepy ghost movies that have that twist, the Paranormal, psychological thrillers, such as “I See Dead People”, “The Others”, ones that make you go “HOLY CRAP”! Tho lately Im seeming to like some Horror Shorts, check out DrewDaywaltFactory on Youtube, he’s awesome! (has a Webseries going now called Camera Obscura, that is awesome)! If I win I would like the Best Buy gift card or the UV Flashlight, either would be just great!
thanks,
holly
Great idea for a site! Every time we travel, we scope out the haunted tours and spots.
My favorite horror movies are psychological or paranormal.
And if I win I’d love the iTunes card!
Thanks!
Allyson
my favorite horror movies are zombie movies, of course. I would love the wine labels. They would make my wine that much better.
My favorites are usually monsters/demons, though I do like a lot of slasher movies too. What’s key for me is how well it creates suspense and leaves you feeling disturbed afterward rather than relying on cheap scares. If I win, I’d choose the Best Buy card so I can buy some horror DVDs!
i love all horror/thriller films/movies,they make me laugh, relax me,cheer me up-i know twisted,i am-LOL!!. you know my name-lol!! the gifts id want-25 dallors gift cert to best buy/or bracelet, not picky woman here.
My favorite horror movies are those with a big “twist” at the end, like The Others and The Orphan. They make you reflect back over the entire movie ‘cuz you wonder “Whoa! How did I not see THAT coming?!” That’s the kind of shock I like. If I were lucky enough to win, I’d select the Best Buy gift card, thank you very much!
