I knew about some of the paranormal titles launching on discovery+ when the new streamer went live on January 4, 2021. However, I was confused. Even though it was touting itself as the “greatest collection of real-life entertainment” and claiming that when it launched it would have “the largest-ever content offering of any new streaming service,” I thought it was only going to start out with about four exclusive paranormal shows and specials.
Which was partly true. Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel, Ghost Adventures: Top 10, and Shock Docs: Amityville Horror House were among the exclusive-to-the-streamer content that launched when discovery+ did.
However, those weren’t the only paranormal shows included in discovery+’s Paranormal & Unexplained hub. It’s claim about having the largest-ever content offering was no joke.
In addition to listing all 138 paranormal shows and documentaries available to stream on discovery+, I’ve also included information about which cable channels they come from and which sub-categories the Paranormal & Unexplained hub is divided into.
The Cable Channels the Paranormal & Unexplained Hub Content Comes From
As of January 2021, the paranormal shows on discovery+ come these four channels under the Discovery. Inc media umbrella:
- Destination America
- History
- discovery+ Originals
- Travel Channel
However, I imagine this could expand because other channels that are also part of discovery+ include A&E and Investigation Discovery, so any of their paranormal shows and programming could be assimilated too. But for now, it’s primarily culled from the four channels above.
The Paranormal & Unexplained Sub-Categories
We all seem to favor certain branches of the paranormal over others, don’t we? For instance, some of us only like ghosts and hauntings, while others gravitate more to Bigfoot and aliens.
That’s sort of a nice thing about how discvoery+ has laid out the Paranormal & Unexplained hubs. I don’t know if they’ll always keep these same sub-categories or change them up, but for now it’s divided into these 12:
- Trending in Paranormal
- Featured in Paranormal
- Shock Docs
- Unexplained Phenomena
- Mysteries
- Otherworldly
- Legends
- Abandoned Places
- Ghost Encounters
- Monsters
- Aliens
- Hidden Gems in Paranormal

Check-In
How many of them have you seen? Are any of your favorite paranormal shows on the list? Are there any that you never heard of before?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’m surprised at how many shows I’ve seen. Then again, since I’m interested in the paranormal and such, I seek out unusual shows.:-)
LOL! It doesn’t seem so bad knowing it’s over many years that we’ve had the chance to watch all these shows, but wow. I was surprised at how many I have seen…and at how many others I’d never even heard of before!
