October was such a blur to me. While I thanked Dinell Holmes of Weekly Spectre for including Haunt Jaunts among those she bestowed a Paranormal Community Leadership Award on, I never got the chance to properly acknowledge the receipt of it.
I’d like to do that now.
Dinell, thank you so much for including HJ among those you gave this award to. I felt very honored to be regarded in the same league as the likes of Steve Fernino, Jason Stromming, Linda Moffitt, and PISCA, all of whom I admire and have nothing but the deepest respect for. They truly are leaders and are constantly setting good examples.
PASSING IT ON
You said there were no requirements for passing it on, but I have a couple of people I’d pass such an award on to:
- Mommy D of the Weekly Spectre. (Yes, you truly deserve this award passed right back to you! You are right there on the forefront of helping whenever you can and setting nothing but the best of examples.)
- Jessica Penot of Ghost Stories and Haunted Places. Her writing is beautiful and her passion for digging up ghost stories and telling the tale not only with her words but also her fantastic photography is inspiring.
- Javier Ortega of GhostTheory. He strives to root out the frauds and keep reports of paranormal activity on the up and up. He’s like the Snopes of the paranormal world. If I wonder if a story is legit I turn to him first to see what info he has. If it’s a phony, he’ll know about it!
- Aaron Sagers of ParanormalPopCulture.com. Aaron is the man covering the entertainment end of things. From movies to TV, he has his finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the paranormal pop culture realm. He has all kinds of connections and often is right there live in the action as some of the biggest, most popular investigations are happening. He’s simply brilliant in his coverage of the paranormal pop culture phenomenon.
- Steve and Angie of Ghost Eyes. I guess Steve is really the one behind Ghost Eyes, but you know what they say, “Behind every good man there’s a good woman.” Angie is Steve’s good woman helping him with investigations, many of which they coordinate and make available to the public to participate in. They care about quality of evidence and keeping up on the latest techniques and, above all, working with others (be that individuals or other teams).
- Brooke, Chris and Brian of SACRED! and Chris of Believers. I’m grouping these two together because they are both ghost hunting shows and both have been in integral to helping me understand things from their end of the spectrum. While they have different approaches to presenting their investigations, they share something very similar in common, something I alluded to when I talked about Ghost Eyes: cooperation and integrity of evidence. They want to work with others to find the truth, yet they also want to help those experiencing unexplained phenomenon understand what’s really happening. They are fantastic examples of what paranormal investigators really look like and what wannabes should aspire to be like.
Dinelle, thanks again for bestowing the award on me. As you said in your post, you chose the people you did because they made an impression on you and struck you as genuinely nice and caring people. I’m borrowing that. It’s the root of why I chose all the people I did too.
To those I passed the Paranormal Community Leadership Award on to: Thank you for the support, guidance, kindness and friendship you’ve extended to me.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Courtney…
Thanks to you as well! Both you and Dinell have been good friends to the PRG and to me personally in the online para-community and I am honored to call both of you friends. I too was honored to be included in that list! VERY HONORED!
And while I don’t know everyone you listed above, I am going to make a point to get to know them! But I agree 1000% that Dinell deserves this award!!!! She is definitely a community leader in my book. And Steve & Angie from Ghost Eyes definitely belong on that list as well…
Steve, anyone who forgives me for misspelling their Twitter name repeatedly is the kind of friend I’d like to have! I was happy to see your name on Dinell’s list for that reason alone! LOL
Thanks so much Courtney! I’m honored. I was sad to hear Dinell was giving up her blog. She’s such a great blogger. I was sad to see all her horrible, creepy little dolls for sale too. Thanks for including me in this.
Welcome! I absoluely adore your blog. Great writing and you know how I feel about your pictures. Just love them! I, too, feel/felt the same way upon learning about Dinell. I was tempted to buy her dolls but my husband said, “Absolutely not! Who knows what kind of new bad behavior that’ll encourage in our pets.” (Mr. Meow’s having some issues lately…) Anyway…you’re welcome. Well deserved!
