Today Netflix made an exciting announcement that has Tim Burton and especially The Addams Family fans buzzing. A new live-action coming-of-age Addams Family spinoff called Wednesday is coming to the streamer.

So what do we know about the series so far?
According to Deadline, Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar will write the eight-episode series.
The YA series will also be Burton’s first live-action show. As Deadline pointed out, he did develop and executive produce the animated TV series Beetlejuice that was based on his 1988 movie. It ran from 1989-1991. And Variety reported that he did direct some Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes, but he’s never done anything for TV like this before.
What will Wednesday be about?
Both Deadline and Variety included a basic storyline for the forthcoming series.
At Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams “will attempt to master her emerging psychic ability,” which might come in handy with trying to “thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”
Sounds complicated but full of possibilities.
When will we get to watch Wednesday Addams in action?
I didn’t see any announcements about when we can expect to see the series, though. But as soon as I see anything, I’ll be sure to report because this series has definitely piqued by interest!
Who will be in it?
I also haven’t seen any casting news yet, so this will be something else to watch for.
All I know is I hope they keep Wednesday the dark, macabre soul like Christina Ricci played in the movies. She nailed it. Very curious to see where they go with this.
Check-In
Who’s your favorite Wednesday Addams? The one from the 1960s TV series or Christina Ricci’s version from the 1991 The Addams Family movie and the 1993 Addams Family Values sequel?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Eek, this is going to be awesome! I even have a cat named Wednesday, so this series is right up my alley!
I forgot to answer: I have no favorite Wednesday actress. Every Wednesday appearance on the screen is creepy, funny, cute, scary, and perfect. (And Morticia’s even better!)
GET OUT! I love knowing this!!!! That’s so fun!!!
YES! AGREED!!!!
