Are you both a foodie and a horror movie lover? Would it whet your appetite if those two passions combined? If so, the Haunted House Restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio, may end up being one you put on your wanderlist. It’s a new horror-themed restaurant aiming to open as early as late June of this year in the Cleveland Heights area.
WKYC reported that it’s the creation of DJ Ryan Wolf Gullatt and his partners, Andre Scott, Jeremiah Burks, and Christopher Thomas. They’ve recruited celebrity TV chef Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson (Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge, Guy’s Grocery Games, Tournament of Champions, and Food Fantasies) as their Senior Executive Chef. Ferguson also owns the SuperChefs restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky.
The group aims to establish a restaurant unlike anything else in the area, “where the only thing that’s scary is how good the food is.”
The atmosphere sounds like it’s going to be pretty cool too, with an emphasis on a movie theater aesthetic. Instead of a traditional desk or stand, the host area will be a ticket booth and staff will wear usher uniforms. Original artwork that pays homage to “horror movie icons such as Pennywise, Slimer and Frankenstein’s monster” will also be on display in the Haunted House Restaurant.
I took a little jaunt to visit their website to see if they had a menu posted yet and, if so, what kind of food they had on it. I was hoping the menu items might also pay homage to horror movies. Sort of like how the drinks at Raven’s Manor, the haunted-themed cocktail lounge that’s opening in Oregon, do.
While there is a bit of a menu posted on the Haunted House Restaurant’s site, I’m not sure it’s their actual menu. It looks like it’s in the construction phase much like the building that will house the physical restaurant still is.
If any of the items will be on their regular menu, nothing is named with a horror movie spin. So far it’s pretty traditional, with fare like Tuna Niçoise, Roast Duck Breast, Breton Fish Stew, Chicken and Walnut Salad, and Roasted Pork Belly. Which still sounds appetizing but I was almost expecting Pennywise Pancakes, Slimer Stew, or something to that effect. Maybe that will change though?
What appealed to me, beyond the horror movie vibe, was that WKYV reported the menu would “include a ‘brinner’ section, offering breakfast-for-dinner meals such as French toast and waffles.” That’s actually what prompted me to go check out their menu. Breakfast for dinner? Oh hell, yes! Count me IN! Breakfast is my favorite meal any time of the day!
Speaking of checking them out, they’ve already established an Instagram account:

But between the Insta post and their website, I’m getting somewhat mixed messages. Will this be more of an upscale restaurant or more a casual one? The website’s vibe feels more classy, so that’s what’s causing me some confusion.
Oh well, guess I’ll have to take a jaunt up to Cleveland when the Haunted House Restaurant opens and check it out for myself to find out, right?
But that might take me a while, so if you’re in or planning to visit the Cleveland area later this summer or year and you check it out, be sure to let me know how it was. Feel free to tag @HauntJaunts on your socials.

Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
