The Deep House: What It’s About and Why You’ll Want Epix to Watch It

The Deep House is a haunted house movie opening in France on June 30, 2021. Because of its unique premise, it’s not only creating a buzz there but also here in the United States as well. Blumhouse recently acquired the rights to the movie and announced they planned to release it on EPIX. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, though.

“But what’s all the fuss about another haunted house movie? And one from France? I don’t speak French. Why should I care about it?”

If you have any of these, they’re all perfectly valid questions. Let’s see if we can answer them by diving in and taking a closer look at what The Deep House is about.

The Deep House: Storyline

Two YouTubers jaunt to a lake in France to explore and film a house that’s not only completely submerged underwater, but that’s perfectly preserved. It’s in an isolated arm of the lake deep in the woods that’s not on any map. However, they’ve found a guide willing to take them to the spot.

But what’s wrong with the house? What secrets is it hiding?

As /Film shared, “their adventure turns into a nightmare when they understand the house harbors atrocious crimes and find themselves trapped with hardly any oxygen left. Their presence has awakened a dark spirit haunting the house.”

Cast & Crew

The Deep House stars James Jagger and Camille Rowe.

It was written and directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, who are part of the reason the movie’s getting so much buzz. They’re the filmmakers of the very well received 2007 horror movie Inside, which was, as Google best summed it up, about “A scissor-wielding psychopath terrorizing a pregnant widow on Christmas Eve.”

  1. Ooo, this does sound like an interesting premise. I don’t usually sign up for free trials, but in this case I might.

Agreed. Because whenever I have, I forget to cancel in time and then I get charged for a month or whatever, but this time…if the reviews seem okay, I’ll do it!
