Aileen Wuornos is easily one of the most notorious female serial killers in American history. Curiously, she hasn’t inspired many films. One of the most well-known was Monster, thanks in large part to Charlize Theron’s incredible performance, which nabbed her many awards including an Oscar and Golden Globe. Now Peyton List is going to take on the roll of a young Wuornos in Dark Stars Pictures upcoming release of Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman.
They’re labeling the movie a companion piece and prequel to Monster, although judging by the comments on the trailer on YouTube, a lot of people are taking exception to this.
For one reason, people think Peyton List is too pretty. Many are drawing comparisons to the transformation Theron underwent to deliver a more authentic portrayal of Wuornos. That clearly set a bar because they feel List should’ve done the same.
But American Boogeywoman focuses on a different time of Wuornos’s life. List is portraying a 20-year-old Wuornos. Did Wuornos start out much prettier than the gritty, worn woman she became at the time in her life that Theron portrayed her? I don’t know.
For now, let’s take a look at what the movie is about, who’s in it, its release date, and where you can watch it.

Do you think it matters that Peyton List may look too pretty and glamorous to play the part of an early 20-something Wuornos?

Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

I think actresses in general are too pretty. I mean, people are AVERAGE. Why shouldn’t the movies show average people.
AMEN!!!!!
