Among the cool places we jaunted this year was Distortions Monster World. It’s a monster museum in Denver, Colorado, that showcases creations from the world-renowned “Monster Makers” at Distortions Unlimited. For Halloween season this year Distortions Unlimited and the award-winning production team at Blazen Illuminations have teamed up to present the debut of Monster to Midnight, a special after-hours event.
I’m a little late learning about it, but it’s been taking place on select weekend nights since September. However, it runs through Halloween. So in case you find yourself in Denver this spooky season, there’s still time to enjoy it!
But what is Monster to Midnight all about? Let’s take a look.
About Monster to Midnight
This spectacularly spooky event was created with monster-lovers in mind. Monster to Midnight takes guests one step further into the world of creepy creations with interactive characters, entertainment, special guests, and more.
Guests will get up close and personal with Distortions Monster World’s monster medley designed by the world-renowned “Monster Makers” at Distortions Unlimited –many you’ll recognize from popular movies, t.v., and your favorite haunted attractions. Interact with vampires, dragons, werewolves, and live characters at this family-friendly limited-time engagement.
Highlights of the family-friendly event include:
- Interactive characters and entertainment throughout the attraction
- Scheduled guest appearances featuring Distortions Unlimited artists on select nights
- Monster Repellent sticker for those who do not wish to be spooked —I’m a bawk-bawk chicken butt so I would need one of these!
- Limited edition collectible merchandise for sal
“Monster to Midnight is a fun celebration of all things monster during one of our favorite times of the year,” said Ed Edmunds, owner of Distortions Unlimited. “My hope is that families find this to be a fun, not too scary event, that allows them a closer look at the magic of monsters.”
“Monster to Midnight is an exclusive after-hours celebration hosted by the Timekeeper and his assistants,” stated Nate Webb, co-owner of Blazen Illuminations. “The Timekeeper and his assistants have taken residence at Distortions Monster World and freeze time each night to bring monsters from all corners of the universe to this special 6-hour event. You may see characters from different periods of time including celebrities both famous and infamous. This darker, louder version of Distortions Monster World allows for a slightly scarier family-friendly experience and an amazing alternative to a haunted house.

Would you need a Monster Repellent sticker too, or are you a brave soul who doesn’t mind ghoulies chasing you and getting up in your business?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
