After a release date that was rescheduled a few times, Ghostbusters: Afterlife will finally hit theaters on November 19, 2021. On that same day, Sony and IMAX are teaming up to host a one-night-only fan event that includes a Q&A session with writer and producer Jason Reitman.
The cool thing is, the event isn’t limited to just one theater. It’ll take place in 19 theaters across the U.S. and one in Canada. Let’s check out where.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Fan Event Details
According to Collider, attendees get to go to a preshow prior to the filming. That’s also when they can submit their questions for Reitman on Twitter using the hashtag #IMAXGhostbustersFanEvent. Submitting a question may also snag them a Ghostbusters-themed prize since they’ll also have giveaways.
Reitman will attend the event at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Among the things he’ll talk about are the 300+ Easter eggs waiting for viewers to find in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. (300+?! Is that movie history? Now I want to know which film has the most Easter eggs in it so far. But I digress…)
Using the power of livestreaming, attendees in the other 19 theaters will have the chance to join the Q&A with Reitman.
But which IMAX theaters are participating? That’s our next stop.

Are you good at spotting Easter eggs in movies?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’m not very good at spotting Easter eggs in movies. I do better in books. Maybe it’s because the pace is slower and I have time to think about what’s behind the words.
Wait, what? Books have Easter eggs too?! I knew some, like Stephen King, did and cross-referenced his previous works and such, but ooooh…this is something else I want to look into now also! I’m lousy at spotting them in movies, but maybe I’d have a better chance with books? But first I have to know which books have them! lol More homework for my busy brain. Thanks!
