Are you a museum person? Some people aren’t. Their eyes glaze over at the mere thought of going to one. Well, you haven’t ever gone with me. But you can. At least virtually. In season 3 of the Haunt Jaunts podcast, we’re going to explore Macabre Museums.
The new season drops on Monday, January 31, 2022. Let’s check out what it’s all about.
Why Macabre Museums
Some museums are more fun to explore than others, aren’t they? Sometimes it depends on whether you’re interested in the types of exhibits the museum displays. Sometimes it depends on how the exhibits themselves are presented.
But has this ever happened to you: You’re traveling with someone who wants to check out a certain museum that you normally wouldn’t bother with, but it ends up surprising you?
I’ve sure been there.
The reverse has happened to, of course. I think. I actually can’t think of anywhere Wayne’s wanted to go that I was “meh” about that I stayed “meh” about after visiting.
Maybe because more often than not I’m the one dragging Wayne to places he’s “meh” about. Like when we went to Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum in Las Vegas.
Wayne could care less about, as he puts it, “all this ghost stuff.” But part of my Christmas present one year included a trip to Zak’s museum. To my astonishment, Wayne declared it one of the best museums he’s ever been to.
Did he believe any of the paranormal claims? No. But he loved the showmanship and theatrics. He does like true crime though and found a lot of those artifacts interesting.
But for him, it was the tour guides who really brought the museum and its collections to life. No ghosts needed!
I love macabre museums. I haven’t even been to a fraction of all the ones I want to, so in a way, this next season will allow me to indulge the fantasy until I can walk through their doors IRL.
Macabre Museums Episodes
Ep. 1 – Get Swept Off Your Feet at These Bigfoot Museums
Once upon a time, there was only the myth of Bigfoot. A few museums had casts of his alleged footprint, but there weren’t any museums devoted to the big hairy fella. In recent years, that’s all changed. There’s enough Bigfoot evidence to fill more than one museum! In this episode, we’ll explore where you can visit them.
Ep. 2 – Wallah! The Magic Museums Episode
Hocus pocus, where to find magic museums is the focus of this episode. Magic wands optional.
Ep. 3 – Oddities Museums – So bizarre, so bizarre!
In this episode, we’ll explore a variety of oddities museums and their various collections of curiosities.
Ep. 4 – Out-of-This-World UFO Museums
No abductions required.
Ep. 5 – Bewitching Witch Museums
We’ll spend a spellbinding time checking out museums that educate and preserve the history and religion of witchcraft in its many forms.
Ep. 6 – Museums Where Monsters and Mythical Creatures Roam
Bigfoot gets a lot of air time, but what about mermaids, leprechauns, and monsters made famous by horror movies? Those are the sort of museums we’re looking for in this episode.
Ep. 7 – Doing Time at True Crime Museums
If you’re fueled by true crime, this is the episode for you. We’ll take a tour of crime scenes turned museums as well as explore museums that specialize in certain aspects of law enforcement, crime history, and forensic science.
Ep. 8 – Exploring the Otherside in Paranormal Museums
We’ll get a little spoo-key and unlock the doors to some of the world’s most haunting museums, including ones that are actually haunted too.

Check-In
Which camp are you in? Do you like going to museums or does it instantly conjure boredom in your mind?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Museums rock, both history-filled and art-type. Off to watch your trailer!
Ooo! So you are a museumite too! (I guess museum-goer would be what we’re really called? I don’t know!) THX for checking out the trailer!
