Haunted Discoveries, a forthcoming new paranormal TV show, came to my attention on March 18 when I Tweeted, “Is there a location you’re sick of seeing investigated on TV? What about one you’d like to see investigated more?”
Normally my Tweets go ignored, but this one elicited a lot of responses, including an intriguing one from Mustafa Gatollari. Along with Brandon Alvis, he was one of the new cast members when A&E rebooted Ghost Hunters with Grant Wilson in 2019.
“We have pretty much all new locations in our new series, @HauntedDiscover,” he responded.
“We” it turns out is him and Brandon Alvis, along with two others, who we’ll get to.
“Oh this is excellent!” I replied. “When’s it premiering? How do I get more info? Can you hook me up with a press release or anything so I can write about it? Thanks for this at least! The hunt for more info is now underway!”
He told me to send him an email and he’d pass some info along, which is exactly what he did. Let’s take a look at what we know about Haunted Discoveries so far and why it might be different than “just another paranormal tv show.”
Haunted Discoveries Aims to Breathe Fresh Air into Stale Genre
Stargazer Films in association with A&G Creative has wrapped production on Haunted Discoveries, a paranormal docu-series helmed by A&E’s Ghost Hunters investigators Brandon Alvis and Mustafa Gatollari. They are joined by historical researcher Malia Miglino and longtime paranormal investigator Kevin Otte.
“We’re telling real ghost stories in a beautiful, cinematic way,” Gatollari said. “Brandon’s not just an incredible paranormal investigator, he’s a ridiculously talented filmmaker. To combine emotional and scary tales with legitimate research is a dream come true.”
“The genre has become stale. It’s an old hat, and Haunted Discoveries is going to upend the current slate of paranormal TV in a big, big way,” Alvis added.
The Haunted Discoveries Approach
The breakout stars of the reality show take a themed approach a la American Horror Story. Spanning 8-episodes, they chronicle Alvis’ search for a haunted location to serve as a home for the American Paranormal Research Association.
The series is rooted in Kentucky, where the team delves into the state’s most historic haunts. They explore everything from the estates of prominent families and old jails to witchcraft ritual sites, many of which have been repurposed into bed & breakfasts or museums that have embraced their ghostly claims. At the same time, they analyze mysterious environmental anomalies tied to the state.
Another thing Alvis and Gatollari do in the new series is expand on the groundbreaking methodology laid out in their best-selling book Elements of a Haunting.

They also incorporate never-before-seen experiments, including tech developed by Zak Heino, an aerospace engineer, and they collaborate with Harry ‘Doc’ Kloor, an accomplished scientist. Kloor was first to be awarded two PhDs simultaneously in two distinct academic disciplines both earned at Purdue University. In recognition of this achievement, he was named ABC person of the week in August 1994.
“The goal of A.P.R.A. has always been to try and move paranormal analysis out of the realm of pseudoscience and establish it as a legitimate field of study, and the best way to do that is subject our finds to scientific scrutiny,” Alvis said.
Haunted Discoveries Locations
We don’t have a full list yet.
However, an article on PopSugar revealed a few places the Haunted Discoveries team visited in Kentucky, including the Grand Victorian Inn in Park City, the Hall Place Bed & Breakfast in Glasgow, and the Talbott Tavern in Bardstown.
Haunted Discoveries Release Info
My first question is the same as fans of Gatollari and Alvis: “When and where can we watch Haunted Discoveries?”
When Gatollari sent me the info about the show, he also mentioned, “We’ve been receiving a lot of questions about where it will be streaming/airing. We can’t disclose that information yet unfortunately but we will have network/service information soon!”
You know as soon as I hear anything, I’ll shout.
Check-In
Would you like to see more scientific scrutiny applied to paranormal TV shows?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Scientific scrutiny is interesting, but I enjoy personal accounts just as much. They engage my emotions.
Thank you for saying this. I guess it needs both for balance. I wasn’t considering that but when I think of shows with personal accounts that I like (mostly of the true crime variety though), I like when they blend all the perspectives because it engages my emotions and draws me into the story. But I never would’ve been able to tell you that until your comment. Which, see? You are concise and here I go rambling again with TMI! lol
Thank you for this story. Being from Kentucky, I’m super excited about the show. Maybe there will be a chance to meet the cast.
That is exciting, William! Cool. I hope you get to meet the cast too one day.
Hi Courtney,
Any idea where we can watch this yet?
Hi Janna! SO wild you asked because I was just thinking the other day, “Huh. I don’t remember seeing anything about Haunted Discoveries. I must check on that.” I will do that this week and write an update post…but also reply again here to let you know. THANKS for the inspiration to get my rear in gear!
Thank you Courtney! I’m very interested to see what they have going on next?
Hey Janna! After stalking their socials to see if I’d missed a release announcement, I saw they’re in the process of filming season 2. But since there was no word about where to watch season 1, I emailed Brandon and Mustafa. Brandon wrote back over the weekend and said season 1 hasn’t been released anywhere, but they are hoping to make an announcement soon about all of that. So…our wait continues. But I’m hopeful it’s nearing an end? lol Thanks again for reaching out and prompting me to delve into something I’d been meaning to!
