I have some big news about HauntJaunts.net the site. (Just the website, not the blog. I’m still continuing with the blog.) So here goes: I just officially launched the site this month, but I’ve made the hard decision to back off from it right now.
“Why? What happened?”
Well, Mercury Retrograde for one. I should have consulted my chart when making my decision to launch. I’ve encountered all manner of hiccups. (Which, thanks to Mercury Retrograde, I should have seen coming. It’s prime season for not only travel troubles but Internet snafus!)
I thought I had figured out a system for entering in new Jaunts, but I keep encountering troubles that are out of my technical realm regarding formatting and such. In time I could probably figure it out, but time is not something I have a lot of right now. (Since I’m trying to present a professional face, it reflects poorly when day after day goes by and the glitches remain unfixed. That’s not acceptable for me.)
Sure, there’s always hiring someone, but money is in as short supply as time!
Plus, I knew my idea wasn’t original. I knew there were like sites out there. But I thought I could bring something fresh to it, which I still believe I can. However, since my vision is currently grander than my capabilities, it frustrates me immensely.
HauntJaunts.net was meant to be my “get off the couch project” to help me recover from my bout with cancer. It’s not supposed to cause aggravation which may re-trigger it. Something that hit home when I was laid up all weekend with a cold, my first since being in remission. (Caused, I’m sure, by my lack of sleep over fretting about the 4,000 things I need to do –at home, with the site, blogs I want to write, not to mention my fiction writing…)
Something had to give and the site was the one thing that actually gave me relief to think about letting go.
I hope you’ll continue to enjoy my blogs.
Thanks for your support as I make yet another transition!
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
