This year, TerrorFest, a Christmas-themed horror convention, is bringing Christmas cheer to those who fear. The event will take place on December 17-18 at The Lone Star Convention & Expo Center Conroe in Conroe, Texas.
It’s Conroe’s first horror con, and they’re doing it up right, combining legendary Rock ‘n Rollers with cult classic horror movie and TV celebrities. But there’s also a ton of other seasonal spooky fun, including getting your photo taken with Santa Claws. If you dare…
“We are providing a channel of creativity, opportunity, and annual fun! All I know is that if you love Christmas, Horror, meeting celebrities, live music, games, endless unique shopping, then you must come experience this event!” said event organizer Chris Carson.
Attendees will be able to meet cult classic guests such as Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses), Peggy Miley (Stranger Things), and Oliver Robins (Poltergeist). The convention will even be filming a short horror film with acting opportunities available for attendees.
They’ll also get to see David Ellefson (Megadeth), Richie Ramone (Ramones), and Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath & Dio) judging the TerrorFest Battle of the Bands. Bands who are competing include Bullethead, ZombieFace, Necroclown, Clint and the Cosmic Wake, and The Dover Brothers.
And for those wanting even more music, there will be special performances by Submit Thy Will and Man-Made Monsters.
But in addition to the celebrity guests (with autographs, photo ops, and panels), the Battle of the Bands, and making a short film, there’s more too. Other highlights include macabre artists, vendors, special FX workshops, costume contests, escape rooms, and haunted houses. There will even be three Christmas-themed horror photobooths: Stranger Things, Krampus and Gentlemen Santa, and Santa Claws.

Check-In
Wouldn’t it be cool if Vinny Appice, Richie Ramone, and David Ellefson joined forces to create the theme song for the short horror film they’re making during TerrorFest?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
It would be super cool if Vinny Appice, Richie Ramone, and David Ellefson joined forces to create any song, horror con or not!
