Do you have a horror lover on your holiday shopping list? Do you already know what you’re going to get them, or are you stumped? If you’re searching for a great gift, we may be able to help. We decided to add a few new gift ideas shelves to the Skareporium this year, including one for horror lovers. (We also have ones for true crime addicts and paranormal lovers, and their respective gift idea posts will follow.)
Since we added over 90 items to the Horror Lovers Gift Ideas 2022 shelf, we decided to pick five of our favorite gift idea categories and highlight our favorite items from each. So if you’re looking for something unique to gift the horror lover in your life, maybe you’ll find some great ideas here.
Horror Lovers Gift Idea #1: Air Fresheners
When I first spotted the Michael Myers, Pennywise, and Freddy Kruger figures wrapped in Christmas lights, I thought they were ornaments. Turns out, they’re air fresheners. Like the cardboard variety similar to regular air fresheners. (Based on the reviews, some people didn’t understand that and felt the product photo was misleading. They’d expected more of a 3D ornament.)
Since I haven’t splurged and bought this for myself (yet), I can’t attest to either the quality or the smell. Some reviewers complained the Black Ice and Candy fragrance was too strong. Others said it wasn’t strong enough or faded fast.
The other complaint reviewers commonly had was the price. They felt $13 for the 3-pack was too high. Yet others argued the novelty factor was worth it. Slasher fans, however, seemed delighted by the festive air fresheners.

Note: The slasher 3-pack isn’t the only style option. There’s also a 3-pack of Pennywise, Chucky’s Bride, and Jack Skellington too.
Horror Lovers Gift Idea #2: Calendars
We added some wall calendars to the Horror Lovers Gift Ideas 2022 shelf, including a Horror Collection calendar that features black and white images from some of horror’s most iconic movies. Each month features a different classic scene or character from movies like Annabelle, It, and The Shining, just to name a few.
However, one I thought was super fun was The Nightmare Before Christmas Funko Pop! Advent Calendar. Open a new door each day to reveal a new Funko Pocket Pop! in this 13-day countdown calendar. But even better, you can use it for Christmas and/or Halloween or whatever else you want to countdown to. Perfect for a Nightmare Before Christmas fan or a horror Funko Pops collector…or maybe one who’s a fan of both!

Horror Lovers Gift Idea #3: Wax Melts
Candles always make great gifts, but Amazon sells The Candle Daddy wax melts that come in horror movie scents, which are described as “Halloween Homecoming (Carved Pumpkin); I Smell Fear (Alluring Potpourri); Wanna Play? (Candied Apple); Unlucky #13 (Black Bouquet); Don’t Fall Asleep (Weeping Elm).”
But what if you don’t know if your giftee has a warmer? No problem. Amazon has that covered with a plug-in skull wax warmer night light.

Horror Lovers Gift Idea #4: Hats
If your horror lover is a hat person, OMG, there are so many cool hats to choose from, be it baseball or beanie style. It was actually a Pennywise cuffed beanie that opened my eyes to just how many there were. Slashers like Kruger and Vorhees are represented too.
Besides being a head-warming fashion statement, Jason’s beanie also glows in the dark. Which is fun but makes more sense on the Ghostbusters glow-in-the-dark Slimer beanie.
As far as baseball hats go, I loved the Camp Crystal Lake one. It’s stylish without screaming horror —and will likely earn a nod of approval from fellow Friday the 13th fans.
And what kind of hat list would be complete without a Santa hat of some kind? There are plain black ones, but why not add some extra pizzaz with a Nightmare Before Christmas one?

Horror Lovers Gift Idea #5: Games
I happen to love games. (Hence, the Spirited Fun & Games page.) But three types of games I’m particularly fond of are spot the difference, trivia, and word searches. Yep. All of those come in horror varieties.

Check-In
What’s the most unique horror gift you’ve either given or received? (Or maybe you’ve been both a giver and a recipient of a cool horror gift?)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
These are great ideas, Courtney! I got a bloody film tee shirt one time. I really can’t wear it in this small town, but it’s great around the house!
ROFLMAO, Priscila. I can just see the raised eyebrows…but I love that you at least get to enjoy wearing it around your house.
This is my kind of gift list!
Three in a row? I’m doing a happy dance over here that this list resonated with you too, Spooky Mrs. Green! WHOOP!
