Screambox is one of the hybrid streaming options for horror fans that offers both free and subscription options. With a subscription, viewers have access to more content, including originals and exclusives. The lineup on Screambox for June 2023 includes both original and exclusive titles (and more) that are definitely worth the price of a subscription. Let’s take a look at what’s new this month.
Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story
First and foremost, let’s talk about the Screambox Original, Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story. It’s a must-watch documentary for any fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
This intimate portrait of the horror icon features interviews with Englund, his wife Nancy, and such genre favorites as Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Lance Henriksen, Bill Moseley, Eli Roth, Lin Shaye, Heather Langenkamp, Mick Garris, Andrew Divoff, William Katt, Jeffrey Reddick, Corey Taylor, and more.
Just know that it takes about 30 minutes before they start focusing in depth on the Elm Street movies. There’s a path that led to Englund getting the part of Freddy Krueger, which is integral to understanding the creation and development of that iconic character.
The Robert Englund documentary drops on June 6, Englund’s birthday. In honor of both occasions, Screambox is offering a plethora of Robert Englund films in its June 2023 lineup, including Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, Tobe Hooper’s The Mangler and Night Terrors. Other Englund films currently streaming include Galaxy of Terror and The Funhouse Massacre.
Oh, and fans are invited to help them celebrate with the hashtag #RobertEnglundDay on June 6.
The Entire Subspecies Series
On June 2, 2023, Screambox welcomed the evil vampire Radu and the entire Subspecies series. Or as they put it, “Sink your fangs into all five entries in the Gothic horror franchise, from the original 1991 cult classic to the exclusive streaming debut of the brand new installment, Subspecies V: Bloodrise.”
The other movies in the series include Subspecies II: Bloodstone, Subspecies III: Bloodlust, and Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm.
Jethica
On June 13, hit the road with the Screambox Exclusive Jethica.
Callie Hernandez (Alien: Covenant) stars in the darkly comedic genre-bender about a pair of friends who seek help from beyond the grave to get rid of a stalker.
New Religion
New Religion was among the 2023 Slamdance Festival’s five recommended freaky features to watch. It follows a grieving mother who must decide how far she’s willing to go to connect with her deceased daughter. The Screambox Original surrealist body horror drops on June 20.

Which Screambox June 2023 title(s) would you watch?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Happy birthday, Robert Englund! I didn’t know there were two Rabid movies. I saw the second one, but I haven’t seen the 1977 version. I’d watch that!
Is that the old “Punk Vacation” or a new remake? 🙂
I’m ashamed to admit I’ve seen neither, Vera. And I call myself a zombie movie lover? Um, my card might get revoked!
I think it’s the orig. As far as I know, there’s no remake?
